This is the best Gym I have ever belonged to and I have belonged to every single one of them in York County. I have been going to this gym since September 2016 and I can't find a single thing wrong with it. The monthly price is AWESOME and especially because you have options, I signed up for the 18 month commitment (it's not like I'm going to stop working out!) and I was given the lowest price and it will not increase after the 18 months.
The yearly "maintenance fee" is awesome because it's the cheapest that I have ever paid for a maintenance fee and every single gym charges them so there is no point in complaining about it. However, with AF's yearly fee they actually use it to improve the gym! This year they used the yearly fees to purchase more equipment, expand the work out areas, add new artwork, minor repairs that were needed, added a new snazzy entrance, paint, and other nice little features throughout the gym...and honestly...they wouldn't have even really needed to do any of that. I have belonged to gyms for multiple years and paid the annual fees without seeing the gym painted or fixed up at all.
The people who go to this gym are awesome, everyone is super friendly and accommodating. All of the staff are super nice and friendly and they know everyone by name and greet them personally. You do not have to hesitate to go up to another gym goer or a staff person and ask them anything at all. Even at the peak times the gym is still very comfortable and I have never had to stand around and wait for a machine.
There are some very unique bonus features to this gym that made me so excited to join; 1) private shower/bathrooms that are VERY roomy, 2) private personal trainer area with full equipment - no need to be in the public gym area to work with your personal trainer, 3) ALL fitness classes are included in membership and you do not have to sign up for them ahead of time or commit to anything, 4) EXTREMELY clean, 5) 24/7 access even during holidays and bad weather, 6) GREAT blog with extremely helpful printables and advice- best I have ever seen anywhere, 6) no pressure upsales and this is a HUGE benefit for me. Every other gym I have been at has chased after me to buy their personal trainer sessions and they rope you in with a "free" introductory session followed by a HIGH pressure sales deal but not here at Anytime Fitness - no pressure whatsoever, if you want a personal trainer there are plenty and if you don't no big deal.
I can't imagine why this Gym wouldn't work for every single person. It has EVERYTHING you could possible want plus a million more bonus features. As a person who absolutely hates social situations and working out; I have truly found my "home" away from home at this gym and I...
Read moreIf I could zero star this place I would. I have a 7 day guest pass which I was told would allow me in and out of the gym at any time. This morning a gentleman stopped me in the middle of a set to inform me that I shouldn’t have been allowed in at all. That the pass does not include people from out of state and I can’t workout here. I was also informed that since my pass is not good because I don’t live in PA I can’t come back and whoever let me into the gym will be fined $25.
Isn’t a free 7 day pass good to anyone? There is no indication of this state residency anywhere posted. I was told I could use the pass to workout during my time here. It’s disappointing to receive such an attitude and poor demeanor while someone is trying out your gym.
Also, the equipment is very old and all pulley systems. It’s difficult to work around the poorly placed mats and odd sized benches and the mandatory bumper plates when doing deadlifts.
It would have been a fine experience if I was not made to leave because one of their employees gave me misinformation. The gentleman I dealt with has no customer service skills and simply did not even try to be polite.
So beware if you are trying this gym out on a seven day pass. You may be told to get...
Read moreThe gym has a great setup floor plan wise, the additional room for the non machine workouts is amazing compared to most other AF locations. But the weight machines leave a great deal of something to be desired. The Freedom Trainer and the Jones machine are the only pieces I'd say are good. Most Nautilus equipment is subpar compared to what's out there and I generally do an about face anytime I walk into a gym and see it. For me it's the lack of versatility and movement available with these machines, but also just greater overall design flaws when directly compared to competition equipment like Hammer Strength, but I've also recently discovered that Nautilus is not great for some body shapes of shorter people. My GF, who lives in the area, struggles to use the stuff here and it's had a negative impact on her willingness to workout at all. It's still a somewhat worthwhile facility if you live in Red Lion or travel a lot and are in this area and don't want to go to the other side of town to use that AF (which personally I recommend doing anyway). But whenever I can I generally choose a different location or wait until I'm back home to hit the gym...
