I can't speak to the experience of others who have reviewed this business, but I will say that, from my point of view, the customer service I received has no bearing on the three and four stars other reviewers have awarded them. I asked in an email for a picture of a lot being sold in January and had to write three times to get a response. When I did, an apology was extended for the tardiness of the reply (so far so good) and a commitment made to send the picture within the next few days. The auction came and went and I wrote to inquire where the picture was. I was told that sending the picture would be an invasion of privacy of the consignor and, therefore, would not be sent. Really!? When someone asks for images of a lot at auction and the auction house does not specifically claim copyright or privacy for the auction house or the consignor, the images may be assumed to have entered the public domain. Never mind the fact that the auction house should be offering as many pictures to interested parties as they can send. After all, they are in the business of selling items and if they don't oblige their potential customers with information about the items (be it condition reports or photographs), they can't realistically look forward to fruitful relationships with either future...
Read moreAfter 22 years buying at Christie's, Sotheby's and Doyle in New York City, I never, NEVER experienced rude behavior like from Nadeau Auction House. Ed Nadeau should NOT allow this kind of vengeful behavior. I spent gladly ~10K on Bidsquare in 2 months, just to get email from nadeau to fill some form to be approved at nadeau. When I did not fill the form, they put flag at Bidsquare--GO FIGURE, kindergarden, mildly said. NO MORE nadeaus -- will stick with GOOD AUCTION HOUSES, and there are many decent!
You stated “When you refused to fill out the paperwork my office assumed you were trying to scam us. That's why they put the flag up, to protect us and other auction galleries.”
Weak excuse — It is still free market in our US of A, and the common knowledge still is: Innocent Until Proven Guilty — not vice versa, as your office assumed. Refusing to fill out paperwork simply means: no bidding at your...
Read moreMore than happy to expand on my review and the reason I did not leave a one star review for my shipper. You had my invoice and could have easily given him a box with a pair of lamps considering that they were using a dedicated truck to move the Steinway piano I purchased. It is not true that they would not take them as you now claim. I returned your phone call within 5 minutes yesterday - so you could have easily called me about the same items earlier and received the same response. I've never been charged for storage by an auction house and yes I might have paid a reasonable fee to store one pair of lamps. But, no I am not going to pay $600 . So enjoy the additional profits from re-selling the lamps which I paid you around $1,700. . I would have thought after purchasing a piano for around $20,000 I would have been a more...
