I was in the middle of this review, got a call, and had to,leave but am back now. I will not say that my shopping experience at Momkees is the worst I have had, in fact the sales clerk was one of the best I have ever had. But, the apparently self appointed manager was a pill and a take away for anyone looking for a special gift and expecting to be shopping in a store that prides itself in public advertising as a "cut above."
I wanted to buy one or two, pair of shoes. I looked on the store website and read that if your birthday was in October, take 20 percent off of one purchase. Well that made my drive from Kernersville to Renolda Village a little easier knowing the shoe prices were going to be above what I would normally spend but it was going to be a birthday gift. My birthday is in October as well as my wife's' birthday. I thought I would buy two pair of shoes, one for her birthday discount and one for mine. They are on separate days and all stores that I have shopped at honor that because I could have gone in today, purchased one pair of shoes and had her go back next week and purchase another pair. It all made sense to me.
When I got to the store and asked the clerk, who was extremely helpful, she paused and said the owner was in Atlanta but would ask a senior clerk, an older woman whether or not that could be done. She said no that only, one purchase per birthday per month no matter if we both had birthdays in October. I said I drove from Kernersville to especially to shop with Monkees because I had purchased at their store before and did not see the problem just because we both had birthdays in October. I gave her the example that I could purchase a pair today and my wife Saturday and all would be a wash. I even had both sets of identification. I told her in that case I would just buy one pair at Monkees and go to another store for the other pair. That did not phase the older lady. During that conversation, a shopper had just made a purchase and asked if she could leave through a side door that appears to be the Renolda entrance. She told the lady no, that "we keep that door locked because we never know who will walk in."
I hate to write bad reviews because the check assisting me was super. The older lady was pill. It will be a long time before I go back to that store. As I was handed my receipt, I was told that my wife had nine days to decide if she liked the shoes or not. That no money could be refunded but an exchange could be made. The exchange part didn't bother me, just the nine days. I should have asked if that was nine days from her birthday when I plan on giving her the gift next week or nine days from today. Just to be safe, I had better give her the gift early.
I had the distinct feeling that Monkees has a certain customer base they serve and do not really need customers outside of their service area. I will be happily to comply and know they will be happy to have it...
Read moreMy Friend and I went to Monkee's for the first and only time last week. I sent and email regarding our experience and received no reply so unfortunately I have no other choice but to write a review. We were immediately followed by the sales clerk and/ or manager. It was very unsettling. My friend was looking at the shirts for her niece. The woman that was following us said, "Those shirt go in size order and your looking at the smalls and mediums, the large are over there." I'm sure you can read between the lines as we did. My friend is a larger woman. We turmed around and walked out. She humiliated my friend. We won't be back. Not that anyone cares or they would have...
Read more3 bad experiences means online stores get my money instead. I emailed Monkees and sent multiple social media messages - none were responded to. Please keep in mind when customers have bad experiences, they tell others. Requested a size and price on Hunter boots..no response. Bought them from an online retailer instead.
Purchased a gift, that quickly broke, and Monkees wouldn't stand behind their product. Mixed responses from associates who initially offered to replace it then finally offered nothing.
