The founder of the Jōdo Shinshū (Pure Land Buddhism) in Japan, Honen Shōnin (Hōnen Genku, 1133-1212), 🌸🌺🌿 during the tumultuous period from the end of the Heian period to the beginning of the Kamakura period, advocated that anyone could achieve salvation and be reborn in the Western Pure Land by simply chanting the name of Amitabha Buddha, 🌸🌺🌿 "Namo Amitabha Buddha." 🙏 This accessible teaching gained widespread support from the public. The year 2024 marks the 850th anniversary of the establishment of Jōdo Shinshū in Japan. 🌿 🌸🌺🌿 Since Honen's founding, his disciples have established various schools, solidified the doctrines, 🌸🌺🌿 and experienced significant growth during the Edo period (1615-1868) when they received the patronage of the Tokugawa shogunate. 🍃 #Japan 🌺
