🇰🇷 Autumn Getaway | A Trip to Gyeongju, the Millenary Silla Capital
Autumn is perfect for visiting Gyeongju—golden hues blanket the city, paired with blue skies and white clouds, creating a natural filter that makes every view stunning. My one-day itinerary this time: Daereungwon → Cheomseongdae → Hwangnyongsa Street → (a happy coincidence!) Silla Culture Festival. I got to soak up both historical charm and fresh, cozy vibes in one go! 📍 Stop 1: Gyeongju Daereungwon Ancient Tomb Complex Think of it as Korea’s version of the “pyramids”—23 ancient royal tombs spread across a vast lawn. In autumn, the grass turns a warm golden yellow, making it ideal for photos! Don’t miss Cheonmachong (Heavenly Horse Tomb)—it houses exhibits of unearthed artifacts that offer a glimpse into Silla’s past. Ticket price: 3,000 KRW 📍 Stop 2: Cheomseongdae (Astronomical Observatory) As the oldest surviving astronomical observatory in Asia, it exudes classic charm during the day. At night, it’s lit up for a dreamy, magical look. It’s truly awe-inspiring to think that over a thousand years ago, ancient people used this structure to observe the stars and create calendars. 📍 Stop 3: Hwangnyongsa Street When hunger hits, head straight to this street—it’s lined with cafés and restaurants converted from traditional hanoks, all with beautiful, tasteful designs! We tried Western food here, and it was cheaper and more delicious than what we had in Seoul. The autumn breeze is gentle and pleasant—grab a bite, then wander around. Don’t skip the street stalls selling traditional tteok (rice cakes)—they’re mouthwatering! There are also small, unique handcraft shops where you can buy Silla-style accessories as souvenirs. 📍 Stop 4: Gyeongju Silla Culture Festival (October Exclusive!) I was so lucky to catch this! Perk: Wear a hanbok, and you get free entry to the festival. Highlights: A spectacular 100-person song-and-dance performance that left me amazed. There are also traditional games like tuho (arrow throwing into a pot) and archery—we even won small souvenirs! 💡 P.S. Practical Tips Transportation: Taxis are the most convenient way to get between attractions. The starting fare is 3,300 KRW—super cost-effective. Clothing: Autumn in Gyeongju is neither too cold nor too hot; a light jacket is just right. Camera is a must: Every corner is photo-worthy—you’ll want to capture all the autumn beauty! #KoreaTravel #KoreaTravelGuide #GyeongjuTrip #OneDayInGyeongju #KoreaAutumnGuide #GyeongjuTravelGuide #KoreaAutumnTravel
