Gyeongju, South Korea: A World Heritage Small Town

Gyeongju – the ancient capital of the Silla Kingdom, a small town designated as a World Cultural Heritage site 🏯. Unlike bustling metropolises, there are no skyscrapers or heavy traffic here; instead, the air is filled with a sense of spacious calm that soothes the mind and lifts the spirit 😌. Scattered harmoniously across the city center are numerous ancient tombs of Silla royalty and nobles – large earthen mounds covered in lush green grass 🌿. Far from feeling somber, these historical relics blend seamlessly with nature, exuding vitality and forming a unique, picturesque landscape that stands out as a highlight of the city. What makes Gyeongju even more delightful? Many of its key attractions, including museums, ancient temples, and royal tombs (such as Daereungwon), offer free admission 🆓 – perfect for immersing yourself in history without breaking the bank! And let’s not forget the food: I tasted the most delicious soft tofu stew (sundubu jjigae) here 🥘. Silky tofu in a savory, slightly spicy broth – every spoonful was pure comfort. It’s easily one of the best meals I had during my trip to South Korea! #AThousandYearOldAncientTown #CulturalAttractionShare #AncientCityArchitecture #HistoricSiteTravel #SouthKorea #OffTheBeatenPathTravel #GyeongjuSouthKorea #GyeongjuFoodRecommendations #Korea
