Bridgeport Sushi Spot | ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Recommendation
I’d been eyeing this place since before it opened — the sign was up for weeks and I couldn’t wait! Since there’s a well-known affordable and quality chain up north, I was really excited to see one open in Bridgeport too 🎌✨. Finally got to try it today! It’s a bit pricier than the northside location — not exactly a bargain, but the quality is solid 👌. Staff were super friendly, and there’s even a Mandarin-speaking team member 🇨🇳. 🥢 Food highlights: 🐙 Marinated Octopus – Delicious but a little pricey. Only four slices (≈$2 each), but the texture was great. The rest is cucumber (thinly sliced and nicely seasoned with tangy sauce). 🐟 Sashimi Platter – Quality was outstanding! Fresh, premium cuts, generously thick. Even better than what I had at Sankyou recently. At $36 for a large portion, it’s actually more reasonable than Sankyou and closer to home 😋. 🦑 Squid Salad – Great texture, well-balanced flavor, not too salty or sweet, with toasted sesame seeds. A bit small for the price though. 🐠 Special: Fish Collar (Salmon Belly) – Likely from the trimmings after filleting, but my friend loved it. At $5 for four big pieces, it’s a great deal (I’m just not big on this cut personally). 💬 Overall: Highly recommended! A bit on the pricier side, but the quality truly delivers. Hope they can keep it up! The place just opened, and I noticed quite a few staff (maybe a dozen?) — seemed a little uncoordinated and rushed. Seating is limited. 📌 Note: The check doesn’t suggest tip amounts, but service was warm and attentive. 📍 Location: Lawrence Fish Market 234 W 31st St, Chicago, IL 60616 📋 What we ordered: 2D Sashimi Platter ($36) Fish Collar Edamame Squid Salad Marinated Octopus Dessert 💰 Total: $109.47 (after tax, before tip) 🅿️ Parking: Free street parking in the nearby residential area — plenty of spots! #ChicagoEats #BridgeportChicago #SushiLovers #FreshFish #JapaneseFood #ChicagoFoodie
