Canβt Forget Their Eel Tamagoyaki β Kurumaya π±π
Back when I went to the office daily, my biggest motivation was lunch at Kurumaya. Now WFH, I still crave their eel tamagoyaki. π± The famous eel tamagoyaki β hand-drawn on the menu. A tender egg roll wrapped around sweet-glazed eel β the combo of fluffy egg + savory-sweet eel hits every time. Just seeing it on the menu makes me hungry. π± Fried soft-shell crab β Not always available, but fresh when it is. π± Evening skewers & salad β Skewers are average, but thatβs part of the izakaya vibe at night. Skip the extra salad β most sets come with a small ginger-dressed veggie side. π± Seafood chawanmushi β Smooth, delicate steamed egg with shrimp and crab inside. π± Eel set β Small pieces of eel over rice, drenched in sauce β pure comfort. They also offer whole grilled eel, but I prefer this version for the sauce-soaked rice. Canβt compare to downtownβs flashy sushi spots, but itβs consistently tasty and affordable. For that eel tamagoyaki, Iβll return 10,086+1 times. π Kurumaya Japanese Restaurant 1201 E Higgins Rd, Elk Grove Village, IL 60007 #SummerFoodieCat π± #Chicago #SuburbanEats #JapaneseFood #OfficeLife #WorkLunchSpot
