Chicago’s Best Sushi Buffet|Goodbye “Rice Ball” Stereotype 🍣

Name: Sushi Taku Address: 1904 W Division St, Chicago, IL 60622 Price: Lunch $24.99 / Dinner $31.99 I used to think AYCE sushi = “giant rice balls,” so I never really gave it a chance. Until a senior took me to Sushi Taku and called it “our canteen”—I was instantly converted. Now it’s my go-to hidden gem I recommend to everyone. I usually go for dinner 6:30–7:30 PM (weekdays or Friday). Wait time for 2–4 people is mostly 15–20 minutes.😊😍 Tip: Call ahead to check wait time—they’re friendly and will tell you directly. For larger groups, give them your ETA—they might even add you to the waitlist in advance.😂🙌 Once seated, you fill out a paper menu, and servers are proactive about handing you more. The menu says 90 minutes, but I’ve never felt rushed. Food comes out fast: soup/salad/fried items first, then nigiri and rolls often arrive together. For big groups, they might even serve sushi on a boat platter—pretty impressive! My AYCE standard is simple: What am I sacrificing for this price?❤️😘 With buffet sushi, the most common sacrifices are fish freshness and fish-to-rice ratio. But Sushi Taku’s fish freshness has been consistently good every time I’ve gone. Friends I’ve brought have also been satisfied, so for the price, it’s hard to beat both value and quality. The appetizers won’t disappoint either: baked mussels, shrimp lollipop, chicken wings all exceeded expectations (wings are crispy outside, juicy inside). My go-to nigiri: salmon, white tuna, sea bass, hamachi, eel, scallop (highly recommended!), squid.👌👍 Desserts include mochi, ice cream, tempura Oreo, macarons. I’m not big on fried Oreos (a bit greasy), but it’s fun to try something sweet after all that fish. In short: If you also have biases about AYCE sushi, Sushi Taku might just change your mind. #Chicago #SushiTaku #ChicagoSushi #ChicagoEats #WickerPark #BudgetFriendly
