Chicago’s Must‑Try Black Truffle Pineapple Bun
After trying Ken Kee’s pineapple bun last winter, we finally made it back this year! Alongside the iconic bun, we sampled new dishes — here’s the rundown. What We Ate 🤤 🍍 Black Truffle Pineapple Bun Highly, highly recommended! The (pastry crust) is buttery and crumbly — sweet bun meets earthy truffle in perfect harmony. 🥬 Egg Tofu with Pea Shoots Simple, clean, and satisfying — tender tofu and fresh greens, lightly seasoned. 🍗 Ginger & Scallion Chicken Huge portion — we only got half and were still amazed. Strong ginger‑scallion flavor, chicken is tender and juicy. 🍜 Seafood Laksa Rich, fragrant curry‑coconut broth, packed with three large shrimp and fresh crab meat — very generous. 🍢 Curry Fish Balls Bite‑sized curry fish balls — classic and comforting. 🧋 Brown Sugar Boba Milk Tea Super sweet — sugar‑lovers’ dream. Boba is chewy and soft. Key Details 📍 🍴 Restaurant: Ken Kee Restaurant Hong Kong 📍 Address: 2129 S China Pl, Chicago, IL 60616 💰 Price: $30‑50 per person. If you stick to one noodle or rice dish per person, it’s quite affordable — but we always go into feast mode 😂. Interestingly, the place was filled with American customers when we visited. That’s all for today’s visit — more finds coming soon! #ChicagoEats #HongKongCafe #ChinatownChicago #PineappleBun #BlackTruffle
