Chicago’s New Steakhouse — Divan 🥩✨
A new steakhouse quietly opened in Gold Coast recently — Divan, part of the 8 Hospitality group. Little was known about the chef, so curiosity led me there last weekend. 🍹 NA Mojito – Was warned they might be out of mint on a Saturday afternoon… interesting start. 🧅 French Onion Soup – Decent, but could’ve used more cheese. 🥓 Ham + Caviar in Fried Shell – The crispy taco shell overwhelmed the delicate ham and caviar — mostly just tasted oily. 🥩 Wagyu Hanger Steak Frites – Tender, flavorful, and better than many steak frites around town. 🥩 8oz Filet with Roasted Garlic – Ordered rare, came slightly over, but still tasty. Bearnaise sauce added nice richness. 🍝 House Agnolotti + Lobster – Cheese-filled pasta with lobster meat and pesto — rich but balanced. The space has double-height ceilings but feels more like a barn than a luxe steakhouse. There’s a small stage for live weekend music. Food is solid but not outstanding — not RPM Steak level, let alone Bavette’s. Maybe a notch above STK.
