Lately, Del Sur has been making waves as Kasama’s strongest competitor in the Filipino bakery scene! I’ve visited two weeks in a row and tried almost everything. 🥐🍰 🍌 Turon Danish ✨✨✨ Flaky, crisp layers with caramelized bananas inside — rich but not overly sweet. Perfectly balanced — you can finish the whole thing without feeling heavy! 💖 🥐 Toasted Rice Croissant ✨✨ Crisp and shatters delicately when pressed. Inside, even air pockets with a buttery, fermented wheat aroma. The toasted rice adds a subtle nuttiness — distinct but not overpowering. 🧈 🍛 Sweet Potato & Eggplant Curry Galette Thin, crispy crust with soft, melting sweet potato and eggplant. Green curry hints of lemongrass and galangal shine through a coconut base. Mildly seasoned — the edges without filling can taste a bit plain. 🍞 Focaccia ✨✨✨ Incredibly soft, chewy, and moist with a mochi-like bounce — the texture alone is a winner! 🌭 Longanisa Sausage & Tomato – Chunky sausage with tomato and Parm — like a delicious pizza on amazing bread. ⚫ Sesame, Cheese & Pickled Onion – Intense sesame aroma, creamy cheese, tangy onions — an aromatic journey from start to finish! 🌿 Pandan Basque Cake ✨ Not like Spanish cheesecake — more like a pound cake with a crisp crust. Pandan cream is refreshing and slightly salty. Paired with mango or rhubarb jam — clever and tasty! 🍍 Piña Colada Muffin ✨ Soft, moist muffin packed with pineapple chunks — tropical, light, and not too sweet. 🍫 Adobo Brownie ✨✨✨ Crispy top, fudgy center infused with bay leaf, pink pepper, and a touch of soy sauce. Deep cocoa flavor throughout — a brownie reimagined with savory depth! 🌶️🍫 🧋 Ube Latte / Salted Pandan Latte Ube wins — rich, sweet, and aromatic. Even better than Kasama’s version, imo! 😉 🍋 Lime Sparkling with Tajin Refreshing, tangy, and fun — worth a try! 📝 Final thoughts: Their breads and pastries are outstanding — flaky, chewy, perfectly textured. Desserts can be hit or miss, sometimes oddly salty. Kasama feels bolder and more refined; Del Sur is more natural and comforting.
