Chicago|South Loop Thai Spot — Disappointing Try 😔🇹🇭

Heard a lot about this NYC-imported Thai restaurant — always packed at peak hours. Tried it today during snowfall ❄️… but left pretty let down (maybe my expectations were too high). We ordered four dishes: 🥗 Crab & Pomelo Salad Sweet-spicy, more sweet than spicy — skip if you dislike sweet salads. The crab was fried (tasted like sweet-spicy crab snacks from the grocery store). Pomelo chunks were big, but the spice overpowered the fruit’s freshness — got cloying fast. 🥣 Tom Yum Soup A must-order for me at Thai spots — but this broth was unusually light in color. Seafood variety was good (shrimp, mussels, squid, clams), but it leaned too sweet, not enough sour or heat. (I prefer Tuk Tuk Thai Isan Street Food — recommended by Thai friends!) 🍲 Beef Noodle Soup Generous portion, plenty of meat — but the noodles were all broken 😩 had to eat with a spoon. Broth was savory but again — too sweet. Wanted to squeeze a whole lime in! 🐷 Basil Pork Mince The best of the four — flavor was decent, pork was seasoned well though slightly gamey. Very oily — tasty at first but greasy after a few bites. Better with rice. The interior is atmospheric, tableware is pretty, and service was great 👍. Taste is subjective — but for me, this wasn’t a standout Thai meal. #ChicagoEats #ThaiFood #SouthLoop #NotImpressed #TooSweet #TomYum #FoodReview
