Busy brunch restaurant with in bright, cheerful space. Yolk has various locations in the city and has been featured in various magazines and tv shows. Came here for brunch on a Saturday after spending all day yesterday at Lollapalooza, so we were in desperate need of sustenance. We put ourselves on the waitlist through Yelp which I would highly recommend because it was still very busy even though we went at an awkward time and it took an hour to get the table. When we were seated, they immediately brought out a water jug and glasses which was greatly appreciated. I split the pot roast Benedict with a friend along with a single serving of the nutty monkey cake. The pot roast Benedict is apparently a staff favorite and we asked for the hollandaise on the side to control the amount of sauce. It comes with two Benedict’s and a side of potatoes - I really liked my food. The beef was tender and the red potatoes were also soft. They do have ketchup on the side but I would recommend the Yolk original hot sauce which was smoky and not too spicy. The habanero hot sauce on the other handle had a strong kick of spice to it. The nutty money cake was really, really rich - I’m glad we only got a single serving and split it. It’s a pancake with bananas, chocolate chips, and peanut butter on top. There’s butter and syrup on the side although we didn’t put those things on. It was so decadent we couldn’t finish it. The peanut butter might be too much and overwhelms the chocolate but it was still good. I also really liked the service here. Even though it was busy, our waitress was super sweet and kept coming by to make sure we were all good. She also proactively asked how we wanted the check split as there was four of us. Overall a really yummy brunch spot with awesome food.

LOVE LOVE LOVE!!!! Let me start by saying this place is AMAZING! We were a party of 17 (11 adults, 6 kids AND 2 of them needed highchairs) on an early Saturday morning and they WELCOMED and accommodated us without ANY hesitation. We arrived early and didn't have to wait at all. The food was DELICIOUS and served HOT! The portions were well worth every penny! The coffee was nice and strong but the freshly squeezed Strawberry Orange Juice was HEAVENLY!!! They also didn't force any group gratuity like many other restaurants ( although we did tip our waiter and the guy who cleaned our table because they were BOTH GREAT). Our waiter was very attentive and never once rushed us or hovered over us. He made sure the coffee cups were filled and that we were happy with our food. He even helped take a few pictures for us, (of us of course). Very family friendly. Very upbeat vibes. The temperature in the restaurant was perfect, not too hot or too cold. I would definitely recommend to anyone and will be returning! The plate on the left was the Yolk All-Star Combo (2 eggs, 2 bacon, 2 sausages, 2 crepes) with the Strawberry Orange Juice on the side of it and the plate on the right was the Countryside Skillet with poached eggs and toast. Needless to say we were so full after this we didn't eat again until SEVERAL hours later. On a side note....If you drive here I would recommend a parking lot around the corner on Wabash Ave & 11th. Very reasonable and it has an opening that leads you right onto Michigan Ave. Just cross at the light and you're just a few feet away from this great place!

The waitress was kind and very good at working with us on our son’s severe peanut allergy (FYI, if you have a peanut allergy it cancels many items off of the list). However, the food was not very good. My husband ordered combo (2 sausages, 2 strips of bacon, eggs, and a main. We chose blueberry crepes, our son and I ordered strawberry crepes (in both cases the fruit was $3 extra completely not worth it. For one thing it was very little fruit and for another, all of the fruit was unripe/bad). Our other son ordered the Combo with the upgrade to the berry French toast. It was a very expensive meal for not very good quality. There was a lot of food. That was a plus. The sausage was the best of the sides. The bacon was limp and cold. The crepes were oddly thick and just not very good. Very blah. Not horrible but not good. None of the three of liked them. However, our son did like the French toast. Overall, I wish we had saved money and gone somewhere cheaper and with better food. I would not recommend Yolk.

Overall we had a good experience here. We ordered vanilla lattes to start and both were really good, some of the best coffee we have had in Chicago. We shared a single slice of the Red Velvet French Toast which was so good. It might have been too much to order by itself since it is literally red velvet cake dipped in French toast batter, but it was perfect to share as a side to our main. By husband had the Santa Fe Frittata which was excellent, except he had ordered no avocado but they included it anyways. He ordered a second vanilla latte but they brought him a regular one. I had the South of the Border Benny. The eggs were poached perfectly, but the chipotle sauce overpowered everything else. It was okay, but I wouldn’t recommend if you want to actually taste the rest of the ingredients. The items that was really liked were superb, just a couple of small things that make this a 4 star experience instead of a 5. If we’re back in Chicago again, we would come back.

I tried this place for the first tike today and I would definetly come back. I built my own omlette (my fellow Egg heads this is our place if you want a 5 egg omlette) and it came with some cheesy grits and pancakes. Not just ANY cheese grits and pancakes though. Most places will sprinkle a lil cheese on the top of your grits and you have to stir it so it's a lil cheesy through out. This place PUTS CHEESE IN THE GRITS. NO stirring necessary, the cheese is in every bite and made perfectly. I got some simple pancakes and they were fantastic, they use that good butter here and the syrup was warmed and not too sweet either. All food came out hot and fresh. My server (I believe her name was Lana) was very nice. Always came to check on me to see how the food was, refilled my tea without me having to ask, had a smile on her face, was overall great. All the staff seemed friendly even though it was crazy busy.

We were on a weekend trip to Chicago and our hotel was around the corner, so we decided to walk to Yolk for breakfast, which ended up being a great decision. The menu had a wide variety and everything sounded amazing. I got the avocado toast (pictured) which was loaded with toppings including salmon and cream cheese. My wife got the Kale Scrambler which she also loved, and there were about 15 other things on the menu we wanted to get. The atmosphere was a little different than what I was expecting. The decor was colorful and fun, and upbeat energetic music played throughout our meal. Our server was very friendly and helpful. Trying a new place when you're out of town is always a risk, but we adored Yolk and definitely want to go again. If you want a quiet breakfast spot you might look somewhere else, but for a fun and delicious morning I give Yolk an A+.
