Chicago|Sugary Chicago 🍰
Name: Sugary Chicago Address: 108 S Michigan Ave A recently opened afternoon tea spot on Michigan Ave — looked so elegant on Instagram, but turned out to be a major letdown 😓. Food review: Pastries Tower ($39): Two croissants + two cakes + two dollops of cream. The croissants arrived soft and soggy 🥐😕. Avo Egg Sandwich (or should I say, Avo Egg Toast?): I ordered a sandwich, but they brought toast. When I pointed it out, the server argued that I had ordered toast 🤦♀️. Even putting that aside — one slice of toast + sliced avocado + half an egg for $16? Not worth it. Berries Crepe: Just okay — not special, but not bad either. London Fog: Earl Grey tea, nice aroma, but the color looked a bit off 🫖. And get this — they force you to order a whole pot per person, and asking for an extra cup costs $1 extra 💸. Service: Terrible, honestly. About the toast/sandwich mix-up — the receipt clearly said “sandwich.” When I mentioned it, the server replied, “Toast and sandwich are the same price, and you said it was fine to keep it.” I only said that to avoid an argument 🫤 — plus, the sandwich was supposed to come with potatoes, which we never got. Also, we sat for 30 minutes without being offered water, while every table around us had water 🚰. We finally asked, and they… forgot. Asked another server for “some water,” and they brought one cup for three people, saying, “Didn’t you say only one?” I said some water, not one water 😤. Overall, this was my personal experience — and it was really, really disappointing. #Chicago #ChicagoEats #AfternoonTeaFail #ChicagoFoodReview #CafeDisappointment
