Chicago|Sweet & Salt Cafe Bakery — Savory or Sweet, You Choose
Heard from a foodie friend this bakery had good pastries, so I stopped by on a weekend. 🍰 Pistachio Basque Cake – Light pistachio flavor, but texture felt different from typical Basque cheesecake — less smooth, more eggy. 🍰 Strawberry Danish – Strawberries outside, filled with strawberry jam and cream cheese inside — sweet-tangy and rich from first to last bite. Glad it was cheese, not plain cream — less cloying. 🍰 Pistachio Croissant – Honestly, doesn’t beat Seedo’s Bakery I’ve recommended before. Seedo’s has a much stronger pistachio paste. This one’s filling is generous but mild. At least no fake “almond pretending to be pistachio” bitterness. 🍰 Fig Tart (seasonal special) – Honey and figs pair well, with a subtle thyme aroma. 🍰 Took home pistachio & blueberry croissants — have totheir packing skills 😅 Even the pistachio croissant eaten in-house looked pre-nibbled… Located near Lincoln Park — nice for a walk and casual brunch, but quality is just okay. Feels more Eastern European than American bakery style. The matcha was a disaster — not whisked at all, tasted like cheap grocery store powder. Not sure about their coffee — would love feedback if anyone’s tried it. 📍 Sweet&Salt Cafe Bakery 2413 N Clark St, Chicago, IL 60614 #SummerFoodieCat 🐱 #Chicago #ChicagoLife #ExploreChicago #ChicagoEats #DessertLover
