Chicago|Zarella — Boka Group’s New Pizza Spot 🍕

Maybe it’s the era of “luxury for less,” but even Michelin-starred restaurant groups are tapping into more casual markets. Boka already has spots like Little Goat Diner, but why pay $18 for a burger when you can get a whole $24 pizza at their latest venture, Zarella? 🍕 Margherita Pizza – Simple and classic, but tavern-style crust doesn’t quite work here. The thin, crispy base can’t hold the juiciness of fresh tomatoes and cheese like a Neapolitan or New York style would. 🍕 Soppressata & Mortadella Pizza – Now this is a match! Paper-thin salty-sweet cured meats, arugula, spicy honey, and melty cheese — every bite sings. Toppings and crust in perfect harmony. 🦑 Fried Calamari – Served with spicy Italian sauce + mayo instead of marinara. Crispy outside, tender inside — one of the best versions I’ve had. 🧀 Gnocchi – Little cheesy pillows in a rich red sauce, still bursting with garlic and cream flavor. Honestly, they could skip pizza and just sell pasta — it’s that good. 🍦 Coconut Ice Cream – Drizzled with olive oil, sea salt, and cherry sauce — nostalgic and interesting. 🍰 Tiramisu – Unbelievably addictive. Layers of boozy coffee-soaked ladyfingers and mascarpone melted on the tongue like a cloud. Wanted to take the whole tray home. 🍍 Browned Butter Cake – Served warm with pineapple jam and whipped lime cream — sweet, tangy, and comforting. Next time I’d try their artisan-style pizzas, but Chicago already has plenty of great tavern-style spots. Zarella isn’t a must-go, but it’s solid value for a Boka-backed restaurant. 📍 Zarella 531 N Wells St, Chicago, IL 60654 #ZarellaChicago #BokaGroup #ChicagoPizza #TavernStyle #GnocchiLove #TiramisuDreams
