Chicago | Indian Café by a Michelin-Starred Restaurant — Swadesi ☕
As you may know, Chicago has a Michelin-starred Indian restaurant called Indienne. This March — perhaps inspired by Kasama's success as an ethnic bakery/café — they opened Swadesi, an Indian-style café. 🥐 Square Chocolate Croissant The chocolate-coated part was crisp, but the exposed areas felt dry — not a favorite. 🍐 Pear Cake The pears were candied and a bit too soft — the cake itself was the star. Quite sweet, similar to their toffee date cake, with a hint of cinnamon — nice with coffee. 🥧 Carrot Halwa Tart Traditional Indian carrot halwa (shredded carrot cooked in milk and sugar) in a tart shell, topped with vanilla cream and pistachios — smoother than the classic version! 🍪 Cookies The counter offered free chocolate chip cookies due to the long line — a sweet gesture. 🌹 Orange Blossom Rose Latte Orange flavor was subtle — stir well or the rose syrup sinks and gets overly sweet. 🌶️ Masala Chai Latte Very authentic Indian spice flavor — friends approved! ⏳ Weekend around 11 AM — waited ~30 mins (not as crazy as Kasama). The menu seems to change daily — next time I want to try the dirty chai tiramisu, curry chicken croissant, or samosa croissant! 📍 Swadesi 328 S Jefferson St #120, Chicago, IL 60661 #ChicagoEats #Swadesi #IndianCafe #MichelinInspired #CoffeeTime #ChicagoFoodie
