Chicago | Review of Popular Thai Spot — Siam Thai 🍽️

Yesterday, we tried the pretty well-known Thai restaurant Siam Thai in South Loop! But street parking was a real struggle—we circled the area for almost half an hour before finding a spot. Highly recommend booking ahead + securing parking! Otherwise, like us yesterday, walking in and waiting for two whole hours can happen… I was starving 😩. ✨ Raw Scallops Very impressive! Chilled just right—sweet, tender, and soft, topped with small chilies and olive oil. Slightly tangy and spicy, perfect as an appetizer. ✨ Raw Oysters Just okay… The oysters were small and a bit fishy, not really recommended. If oyster quality matters to you, skip this. ✨ Tom Yum Seafood Soup Loaded with ingredients! Lemongrass, galangal, and chili flavors were strong—sour, spicy, and really wakes up the appetite. Great for those who like bold flavors or need something to go with rice. ✨ Thai Grilled Chicken with Sticky Rice The chicken was crispy-skinned, tender inside, with a smoky flavor and well-seasoned. The sticky rice on the side was a bit undercooked/hard, but overall still good. ✨ Pineapple Fried Rice Full of presentation points—served right in a pineapple half! The rice was fluffy and well-separated. You can choose the protein; we went with rib eye, but honestly the meat didn’t stand out much lol. The rice itself was fragrant and tasty though. ✨ Mango Sticky Rice The mango was on the sour side, paired with soft sticky rice—the texture was fine, but better for those who prefer lighter desserts. I had high expectations for this one, but it wasn’t particularly amazing. ✨ Overall Experience: Cozy atmosphere with warm lighting, and the servers were friendly. But the food came out pretty slowly. Price per person was around $30–40, decent value overall. Some small letdowns with the oysters and dessert, but the main dishes were mostly solid. 📍 Siam Thai Eatery Chicago 1329 S Michigan Ave, Chicago, IL 60605 #ChicagoEats #ChicagoFood #ThaiFoodReview #SiamThai #SouthLoopEats #FoodieReview
