Siam Thai — Restaurant in Hyde Park Township

Terrible service. Never ate here before, will never try to again. The food took two hours and ten minutes to arrive and the person on the phone was unhelpful, rude and generally incompetent.

I ordered delivery at 19:45 on a blustery Saturday night, about a mile away. The person on the phone didn't tell me how long the food would be and I neglected to ask, which I realized as the call disconnected. Didn't call back to ask as I figured it wasn't a big deal.

An hour and ten minutes later I called the restaurant back. The guy said the food was on its way. I asked how long it might be and he said that the driver was laden down with orders, and after asking for an estimate (we were hungry!) he said he'd ask the driver and call me back.

Ten minutes later I call the restaurant back (1:20 after initial order) and the guy tells me that I should have ordered pickup instead. After explaining that information would have been helpful as I placed the order he starts lecturing me about the weather, how the night was busy and that they only had two drivers on that night who currently had 5 or 7 orders each. At the end of this he says, "so sorry, OK?", repeating this as if to shoo me off the phone.

Two hours and ten minutes later (50 minutes after last contact with the restaurant, with the last estimate being "maybe 20 minutes") the driver calls me to indicate he's almost there. I inform him that we're no longer interested in the food. He replies "Oh, OK, cool" and hangs up the phone.

Long story short: we got sick today after our meal and cannot recommend.

Went here earlier today with a date. I love a hole in the wall with authentic cuisine and was hoping for that experience today. I ordered beef with garlic sauce, a soup and Thai tea. My date ordered shrimp with lobster sauce.

I'm a pretty adventurous eater and I love Thai, my date has never had it but likes to try new things. I explained that Thai shrimp w lobster sauce will not be the same as Chinese.

There was one party finishing their meal when we arrived, and we were the only ones in the restaurant remaining. This was around 730pm. Our server rushed us to decide on our meals. Food was served fairly quickly.

My soup was great, but both our entrees were not just disappointing, but inedible. They were served on flat plates- both with very watery, muddy brown sauce, that would clearly be cold within a few minutes.

My date took one bite and could not continue, he said it tasted weird. I picked up a piece of what might resemble some shredded lobster from his plate and it was spongy and tasted of spoiled seafood.

We asked for the check and our server was surprised that we did not take any of the food ordered with us to go. We left full plates behind. We did not request refund or meal replacement.

Stopped here for lunch and I was the only one in the restaurant. The waiter sneezed into his hand and wiped it on his apron as he was bringing it to me. I decided to look past it (definitely was my first mistake). Food was okay, but in my 30 minutes sitting, there no came from the back to check in on me which, again, was fine and I could look past. I paid using a barcode on the table and waited another 5-10 minutes to see if anyone would come from the back so I could let them know I paid. When no one did, I got up and left. I guess they heard the bell ring as I walked out because the waiter came running from the back and as I was half way across the street ran out and accused me of stealing, telling me I needed to pay. I told him I paid online and he told me I needed to come in while he checked. I did and he saw that I, of course, had paid and told me I was free to go. The whole situation was just embarrassing and felt racist. No one came from the back in the last half an hour and when I finally do leave and before even checking he chases after me into the street immediately accusing me of stealing.
