Chicago | ROOP | 🇮🇳 Beautiful Indian Food, Clean and Hygienic 😌

🍴 ROOP 📍 736 W Randolph St, Chicago, IL 60661 This was pretty much my first time trying creative Indian cuisine! Didn't want to overthink it, so I went straight for the chef's tasting menu (swipe left 👀 to see the menu). It included four courses in total. 🍽️ Course One The outer layer was incredibly crispy, while the filling was a cool yogurt mousse mixed with spicy, salty potatoes and something with a meat-like texture. The layers were really complex and interesting~ 😋 🍽️ Course Two Crab cake—fried almost like a meatball. The curry probably had coconut milk added, which made the Indian curry give off Thai red curry vibes 🧐. The curry was a bit too salty for our taste (and this course didn’t come with rice or anything, so eating it plain felt a little overpowering 😣). 🍽️ Course Three The famous butter chicken 🤩—it’s definitely the superstar of Indian cuisine, right? Served with basmati rice and garlic naan 🫓. As a carb lover, who doesn’t adore naan? The chicken was tender, and dipping the naan in the curry was just *chef’s kiss* 🥰. 🍽️ Course Four Jasmine mousse—my husband took one bite and said, “Why does this taste like soap?” 😂 Gotta admit, his description was spot-on! Besides the menu, I also ordered masala chai (anyone else love watching @raleighcho 🙋?). The teapot 🫖 and cup setup was super ceremonial—felt kinda Brahmin 😎. Not very milky, with a strong tea flavor—pretty good, though it might be too much for one or two people to finish. To sum up: It was decent, alright. A nice experience for anyone who likes Indian food, but we probably won’t be back anytime soon. Ended up being around $100 per person. Personally, I think it’s a bit pricey for the flavors, though the atmosphere was okay. After the meal, we strolled along Randolph, watched the lively crowds, and enjoyed another happy day in the city 😝. Have you tried ROOP or any creative Indian restaurants lately?
