Chicago | Thai Food - JJ Thai Street Food Review 🍛🌶️
A Thai restaurant with fantastic seasoning, but... 🍗 Thai-Southern Style Fried Chicken: This was more like Chinese-style fried chicken—no thick batter, just crispy on the outside. The skin was super crunchy, but the meat was a bit dry. Topped with lots of crispy fried shallots, which added a nice chew. It needed the sauce to bring out more flavor! Came with a small side of purple rice. 🍛 Curry Beef: Honestly, a bit disappointing 😕. The beef was tough, and the curry itself wasn’t anything special. 🥓 Grilled Pork Neck: Seasoning was a perfect 10/10—tangy, spicy, with a hint of sweetness! The charred aroma from grilling was great, but again… the meat was surprisingly tough. Isn’t pork neck supposed to be tender and bouncy? 🦑 Grilled Squid: This was delicious! Loved the dipping sauce—packed with tiny spicy chilies 🌶️. Made the heat totally enjoyable! 🍜 Tom Yum Noodle Soup: Also really tasty! It’s been a while since I’ve had a Tom Yum soup that balanced sour and spicy so perfectly. Not sure if the chef was having an off day or what, but almost all the meats were dry 😅. Even though the seasoning was on point, I probably won’t be back. 💰 Price: ~$25–35 per person 👩🍳 Service: Very friendly! 🏠 Seating: The restaurant is pretty small. I’d recommend sitting inside—the outdoor seats are right next to the road, which isn’t the comfiest vibe. #ChicagoEats #ChicagoFood #ThaiFood #JJThaiStreetFood #FoodReview #MixedFeelings
