Chicago Downtown Century-Old Steakhouse 🥩 | Dining and Saving Money
Chicago Chop House is a century-old Western restaurant located in River North. I’ve walked past it many times over the years but never noticed it until I saw a $75 for $100 gift card deal at Costco . Plus, I found a great deal on Seated, so I decided to go with friends! 🏃♂️💨 The bread service was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside—definitely felt like it was freshly baked. It was the first time I finished all the complimentary bread! 🍞✨ The Steak Tartare was generously portioned and paired with crispy toasted bread—how could it not be delicious? However, if you’re not a fan of onions, you might want to skip this one. The Chop Salad had thick-cut bacon, fried onion rings, and fresh lettuce—a great choice if you want a “different” kind of salad. 🥗👍 The French Onion Soup was a miss ❌—way too salty. I took one sip and felt like I was drinking a can of salty broth… big no-no! 🥄😖 For the main course, the three of us ordered a 12oz Filet Mignon (wet-aged) and a dry-aged Tomahawk Ribeye . Personally, I preferred the filet—it was seared on the outside, pink on the inside, and had a firmer texture. The Tomahawk was my first time trying it, and I felt there was a bit too much Invisible creatures fascia and fatty oils, but if you like ribeye steaks, you’d probably enjoy it. Both of my friends loved it! 🥩🔥 For sides, we got asparagus . The portions here are huge—each person got about 6-7 spears. Don’t listen to the server if they suggest ordering 2-3 sides… the sides are meant to be shared. 😢 For dessert, we originally ordered something else, but the kitchen ran out, so the server gave us a Crème Brûlée on the house. It was delicious but also very sweet—one bite per person was enough. 🍨🍯 💰 Price per person : $125 (including tips & tax). #Chicago #ChicagoLife #ChicagoFood #ExploreChicago #ChicagoTravel #ChicagoFun #Chicago
