A Night of Elegance, Culinary Delight, and Exceptional Service at Chicago Chop House!
I recently had the pleasure of dining at the Chicago Chop House, and the experience was nothing short of extraordinary. From the moment I stepped through the doors, the restaurant's elegant ambiance and captivating architecture set the stage for a memorable evening.
The building itself is a masterpiece, and its design is a testament to the city's rich history. As I took in the surroundings, a soulful pianist provided a delightful musical backdrop, further enhancing the overall atmosphere. The attention to detail, including the wall adorned with portraits of Chicago's mayors, added a touch of local history that sparked engaging conversations throughout the evening.
Now, let's dive into the culinary experience, which was nothing short of exceptional. I opted for the Tomahawk Steak, a decision that proved to be a culinary triumph. Cooked to absolute perfection, the steak was a succulent masterpiece. The accompanying mushrooms and fries were the ideal companions, elevating the dish to new heights. The flavors were harmonious, and every bite was a celebration of culinary expertise.
My date selected the Homemade Fettuccine, and it was a revelation. The pasta was expertly crafted, and the dish as a whole showcased the chef's dedication to quality and taste. Each bite was a journey of flavors, leaving a lasting impression that exceeded our expectations.
However, beyond the remarkable food, what truly stood out was the impeccable service provided by our waiter. His genuine smile and attentive demeanor added a personal touch to the evening. Always present but never intrusive, he ensured that every aspect of our dining experience was enjoyable. To the waiter, whose name unfortunately escapes me, I extend my sincere gratitude for contributing to a flawless evening.
In conclusion, the Chicago Chop House is more than a restaurant; it's an experience. From the elegant ambiance to the culinary delights and exceptional service, every aspect of the evening was carefully curated to leave a lasting impression. Whether you're a local or a visitor, this classic establishment is a must-visit for anyone seeking a perfect blend of sophistication, delectable cuisine, and warm hospitality. My only regret is not capturing the waiter's name, but to him, I say a heartfelt thank you for being an integral part of a truly memorable...
Read moreIt was ny best friends birthday Sunday night and rather than let him dine at one it’s over-rated competitors in the river north area, I insisted that he allow me to treat him to both a delicious and delectable small feast prepared by the amazing chefs and cooks that day in and day out as well as for all 365 days of the year turn out truly great tasing food. Additionally, we were served by the veteran and venerable server Nikko who despite having had quite a few tables and even more guests to contend with, never missed a beat. His service was extremely professional and his level of proficiency was proven from start to finish; especially when it came to his effortless explanation of the difference between wet and dry are steak, which my lovely ex/wife Mona, who dined out with Quintin and me that night was beyond impressed by. And in mentioning my Mona, she was also pleased with the two rolls Royce margaritas that the bartender Derek made for her. Lastly, the support staff which included Carlos, Gilberto and Felix were all fast and a bit funny which added a special touch to our celebration. Then just as we thought that the night couldn't get any better, we received an unexpected and most thoughtful visit from tho restaurants General Manager Emma who after making sure that all went splendidly, as we each genuinely assured her it had, hospitably and warmly wished my bestie a happy birthday. As a matter of fact, after Emma departed, Mona, who has dined out at each and every steakhouse in the river north area, commendably remarked, “now where they do that,” alluding to the reality of her never having had a single general manager visit her table at any of the other steakhouses here in Chicago that she had dined at. So all in all, as Mona put it, she discovered her crown jewel of steakhouses here in the city as did my bestie and neither of them can wait until patio season begins in order receive the exact same service and delicious food and drinks...
Read moreI went to this place on Friday around 815 pm. I would say it was about 2/3 filled to capacity. Building has a nice classic wooden dark decor. My party had to traverse three flights of stairs to dine on the third floor. The restaurants choice not mine.
We were seated quite close to a loud party of four. I would say I was a foot away from the nearest one of them.
The complementary bread was of the crusty Italian type with good chew. Butter was of the freshly whipped variety.
I ordered the steak tartare, chop salad, and the dry aged cowgirl ribeye. Steak tartare was served with buttered garlic bread and oddly a hard boiled egg half. The meat used from the diced meat itself was of lighter cut and had a more delicate flavour than what I used to for this dish, but it very good. Two types mustard were served on the side.
The Chop Salad was a disappointment. Portion was small considering it cost 18 dollars. There were maybe six bits of the apple wood smoked bacon that I did enjoy but not much else. The contents of the salad on the menu seemed plentiful and enticing but it was a jumbled mess. I might as well give the final insult that I seem that it tasted like salad you buy at Chili's.
As for the steak, the ribeye was well seasoned and has that distinctive tang of dry aged beef. I did ask for medium well and it was done to that standard. That part went well. Now for the bad news: the steak was seared too long. I had some some enjoyable bits that were some that were bitter with excess char. I love the taste of the meat itself, but that taste of burnt carbon rely put it off.
Service was good as expected in a steak/chophouse and our drinks were refilled in a timely matter.
Considering with the overall ho hum impressions of the food and the obnoxious office party we were seated next to; I will probably go somewhere else to spend that type of...
