Chicago Food | Nomonomo|Super Charming Izakaya 🏮

It’s been four years since I left Japan, and I’ve really been missing izakayas—craving a big draft beer while sitting at the counter watching the chefs grill. I’ve tried quite a few yakitori and okonomiyaki spots around Chicago, and I’ll be sharing them over time! Compared to Kumiko (which I love), Nomonomo feels more casual and affordable, with a pretty extensive yakitori menu. The atmosphere is still wonderful—very aligned with that "In Praise of Shadows" aesthetic 🎑. The seasoning here is unique—my favorite skewer was the garlic Wagyu beef. The okonomiyaki and uni udon were incredibly delicious 😋. But surprisingly, my top dish was actually the sautéed mushrooms—well-seasoned, not too oily, and no weird mushroom aftertaste! It’s cozy and perfect for catching up with friends or a date night 👭💖. PS: Their chuhai (shochu highballs) weren’t my favorite. For drinks, I’d still recommend Kumiko! Also—right next door is a ramen shop, so you could easily hit both in one trip 🍜🔥. 📍 2115 N Milwaukee Ave, Chicago, IL 60647 📅 Reserve a day ahead and you’re good to go! #Chicago #Foodie #Izakaya #Yakitori #Nomonomo #VibeDining #ChicagoEats 🥢🍶
