Chicago Food Review|Excellent French Restaurant in Downtown 🥂
Recently tried the newly opened Petit Pomeroy — a downtown branch of the popular North Shore restaurant Pomeroy. Every dish was refined and delicious, and I highly recommend it! Starters: 🐌 Escargots à la Gratinée ⭐⭐⭐ The baked snails arrived piping hot and incredibly aromatic — reminded me a bit of Pizza Hut's escargot (in a good way!). Chewy and flavorful, served with tasty bread. 🦢 Foie Gras (off-menu) ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Pan-seared foie gras served on buttery toasted bread with fig compote. The first bite was rich and satisfying, though when it cooled slightly, the liver flavor became quite strong, even a bit gamey. The sear was slightly overdone — not quite melt-in-your-mouth — and the bread added to the richness. Still, getting a whole piece of foie gras in Chicago is a treat! Salad: 🥗 Le Pomeroy ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Fresh greens with creamy blue cheese, nutty walnuts, and crisp, tangy apple slices. A perfect balance of textures and flavors! Mains: 🍄 Risotto aux Champignons ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Creamy risotto loaded with mushrooms and truffle, topped with savory cheese — an explosion of earthy, cheesy goodness! Absolutely delicious. 🐟 Bouillabaisse ⭐⭐⭐⭐✨ A rich seafood stew packed with perfectly cooked scallops and shrimp. The buttery, creamy broth was savory and comforting. Our server kindly split it into two portions — the photo shows one serving. Dessert: 🍫 Chocolate Pot de Crème ⭐⭐⭐✨ Like eating semi-melted chocolate lava! Paired with boozy cherries that weren’t too sweet — a nice finish. Cocktails: 🍊 San Pellegrino – Refreshing grapefruit flavor, light and easy to drink. 🍸 Le Spritz – A bit too strong on the alcohol for my taste, but the server kindly replaced it without hesitation. Overall: No dish disappointed, and the service was exceptionally warm and attentive (at one point I wondered if the chef was serving us!). I’ll definitely be back! 💖 📍 Address: 748 N State St, Chicago, IL 60654 #FrenchCuisine #Chicago #ChicagoEats #ChicagoFoodFinds #FrenchRestaurant
