So this review is strictly on the service alone. The atmosphere is amazing! Me and my best friend dined here on 05/31/25 had food and drinks downstairs. We had a great time. Food was ok drinks were ok and great vibes. We decided to go upstairs to the bar around 8:15pm. We ordered an expresso martini. We tried to like it but we didn’t. In the nicest way possible we explained it and why we didn’t like it. We asked to get another drink. For the trouble we didn’t mind paying for the drink we didn’t like and ordering a new one. That’s no problem. Once we stated that we didn’t like the drinks we over hear the two women bartenders basically saying bad things about us just because we didn’t like the drinks. Immediately after we got a new drink the bartender never checked back on us and never even asked if we liked this drink and if we want another one. She literally talked about us to another bartender and she wasn’t even discreet about it. That was the icing on the cake for me. I really want to say that we were mistreated due to that and because of our skin color. That really hurt the most. Everyone else at the bar was getting treated fairly. We didn’t even get the proper treatment like everyone else after we asked for a different drink. We didn’t mind paying for two drinks. Just to get great service we would’ve did just that. But the bartenders the two women was extremely rude. Meanwhile we handle the situation with grace. I really hate this was my experience because I was really looking to enjoy this place and have a great time. But the things that they said amongst each other talking about us like we wasn’t even there was extremely embarrassing. If this never happened I would recommend this place but since it did I would never return. At least I walked away with more grace than the two bartenders that should’ve been delivering the best service
MONTHS LATER...
Read moreI visited Petit Pomeroy for a solo dinner in early July of this year. It was on my mind all summer and even now, I find myself wishing we had one on the East Coast. Chris was my server and he provided an excellent dining experience. He knew the menu, checked in at appropriate times, and was clearly very experienced in fine dining. His service alone would be enough for me to come back on my next trip to Chicago. Overall the food was delicious and I've listed details below.
TUNA TARTARE NIÇOISE: Haricot Verts, Cured Egg Yolk, Potato Gaufrettes 10/10 - Texture pairing was PHENOMENAL. The crisps are sooo thin, they basically crunch and melt when you eat them. Sauces were delicious, scraped the plate.
MACARONI AU GRATIN: 10/10 - Gruyere was excellent, the cheese pull was beautiful and every single bite had a rich slightly nutty flavor.
Bœuf Bourguignon Braised Short Rib, Pommes Purées, Root Vegetables, Red Wine Jus 8.5/10 - Beautifully plated and cooked to perfection in terms of texture. The meat tasted slightly undersalted, jus felt a bit light on the tongue, and I would've liked more puree.
LA BELLE COCKTAIL: Gin, Braulio, Cranberry Jam, Lime 10/10 - Sharp then sweet like sour patch candy. I was genuinely sad that I finished it so quickly.
APPLE TARTE TARTIN Puff Pastry, Caramel Apples, French Vanilla Gelato 10/10 - Puff pastry layers were such a great match for the apples. The caramelized top reminded me of old school pineapple upside cake in the best way. Homemade gelato was very balanced and had a perfectly creamy texture. I could eat this...
Read moreThis place is what all restaurants should aspire to become!! From the aesthetics, to the 5⭐️ service and the exceptional ingredients, I cannot say enough how this gem in the heart of the Near North neighborhood bordered by ecclectic River North and money-making Streeterville is worth your hard earned dollars. Located across from Holy Name Cathederal, its divine and heaven sent, enough said.
Started with the escargot, it was garlicky and buttery, served with a fresh hot crustry bread to dip in that butter sauce. The escargot was a bit smaller than I would have liked but it was still perfectly cooked. Great bite without any chew!!
The mussels is the chablis sauce was briney and perfectly soft from the shells. And it was a very decent portion. Most had to be taken away in a doggie bag.
Lastly, their burger royale (which is why I had to try this place) is arguably one of the best double cheeseburgers in the City. A mid-rare double patty with pickles and cheese on a warm crisp brioche bun was a huge treat!! The string fries was crunchy and salty!!! This is a great lunch/brunch spot!!!
Definitely a place to recommend to all Chicagoland and visitors!!! Kudos to you for making such a memorable meal, which is rare in today’s restaurant...
