Chicago Nomonomo Yakitori Review 🍢 Verdict: Not a Must-Try
Last weekend, I wandered around Wicker Park with friends and headed up north to try Nomonomo, a yakitori spot. The restaurant had a nice atmosphere, and our server was really friendly 👍 (we had a reservation, but it wasn’t too busy—walk-ins would’ve been fine). For starters, we ordered: 🍄 Recommended Mushrooms – I actually liked these! Buttery-teriyaki style, fragrant but a bit salty. 🦑 Whole Grilled Squid – Huge portion, served with creamy mayo-based sauce—pretty filling! Yakitori Ranking (Personal Preference): 1️⃣ Chicken Thigh – Tender and juicy 💦 2️⃣ Beef Tongue – Thick-cut and tasty, but a bit of a jaw workout 😅 3️⃣ Zucchini with Mentaiko – Only a tiny dab of mentaiko sauce in the center 4️⃣ Chicken Meatballs – Large but average in flavor 5️⃣ Grilled Sweet Shrimp – Big head, small body… a bit dry 🍤 🍜 Main Course: Signature Uni Cream Udon I’m not a huge uni fan, so I found it a bit fishy 🐟. My friend, who enjoys raw seafood, liked it though. The creamy sauce was tasty, and the noodles had a nice chew—felt like a better fit for winter ❄️. Final Take: If you’re in the area and craving yakitori, it’s worth a try. But I wouldn’t make a special trip for it. #Chicago #ChicagoLife #ChicagoEats #ChicagoFoodie #WeekendVibes #Yakitori #Nomonomo
