Chicago Vietnamese — Pho 777, Rice Crepe Is My Favorite 🍚✨
Chicago’s Vietnamtown has plenty of Vietnamese restaurants, and Pho 777 is one of the well-known old spots. The interior is quite unique — there’s even a small KTV stage. 📍 Address: 1104 W Argyle St, Chicago, IL 60640 The menu here is huge — classic pho, vermicelli bowls, steamed rice crepe, Vietnamese pancake (had this in Houston — super unique), and even Vietnamese hot pot. I think this place is great for exploring the diversity of Vietnamese cuisine! This time I specifically wanted to try non-pho dishes — mostly Vietnamese grilled meats, classic veggies, and signature dipping sauces. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 Steamed Rice Crepe Plates As a Yunnanese, I love everything made from rice. The moment I saw steamed rice crepe, I couldn’t look away! The crepe was freshly steamed, still warm — soft and, with a light rice fragrance, no seasoning. I absolutely loved this texture! I chose the version where grilled meats are served separately. The rice crepe paired with various grilled meats + Vietnamese dipping sauce = pure soul food. Next time, I want to try the rice rolls with minced pork and mushrooms — the description sounded exactly like the Vietnamese rice rolls we eat in Yunnan. Not sure what the most authentic version is, but I love the minced pork + rice roll combo. Highly recommend you try it too! 🍜 Vermicelli Bowls Portions here are super generous. Just pick your favorite meat and toppings — you can’t go wrong. My favorite: grilled pork. The meat is marinated, packed with spices — almost reminded me of Dai-style grilled meat. If you prefer rice, go for the rice plate sets — grilled pork, sausage, pork chop, etc. The set comes with a bowl of hot soup. 🥘 Has anyone tried their Vietnamese hot pot? I’ve been wanting to! #ChicagoEats #VietnameseFood #Pho777 #RiceCrepeLove #VermicelliBowl #RestaurantRecs 🍚
