Argle street has plenty of Asian restaurants and i was craving Viet food. On a Sunday for early dinner, we luckily found meter parking in front of the restaurant. As we entered, my daughter noticed the large fish tank with one big fish. We were seated 2 tables away from the fish tank so my daughter could admire the view.
A red cushion coverbook covers the menu, and have plenty of selections!
I was initially disappointed that the establishment ran out of the soursop fruit to make bubble tea with tapioca. (Soursop is a fruit of the annona muricata, a small evergreen tree. Its flesh is soft, white and pulpish, with a sour citrus flavour that is also slightly creamy.) So i ordered one with Durian fruit (This fruit is revered in Southeast Asia as the King of Fruits. The thorn covered husk along with its pungent odour is the hallmark of the durian.) I was satisfied with the drink, it smells like fart, but tastes so good! Hopefully next time the soursop fruit will be available for order, otherwise take it off the menu!
I'm not an expert of Viet food and i stick to the basics--either sandwich section or vermicelli section. Vermicelli always come with white noodles and fresh veggies to the side and broth in a bowl.
I ordered the grilled pork one; i love how the pork was slightly burnt and the broth was spicy enough to clear my sinus cavity and flavorful enough that i enjoyed my meal. It also came with pork eggroll to my meal.
I did order 4 pieces of pork eggrolls and chicken fried rice for my daughter in case she wasn't in trying new foods. Well, my daughter craved only for chicken fried rice and that satisfied her.
We had plenty of leftovers. Employee spoke english well, though have an accent and had to repeat my order. Service was slow, yet worth the wait.
If my memory serves me right, the red walls with candles on the tabletops for dinner wouldve made a great ambiance. I did like how the soup spoons and chopsticks were neatly laid out in the condiments box on top of the table though.
5 stars for me if i couldve gotten that soursop bubble tea with tapioca as my first choice.
Near the Asia on Argyle sign, near the red Argyle CTA station. Meter parking and free parking is...
Read moreIf I could leave less than 1 stars on this place, I would. This is because of the mid food and especially poor service and mistreatment from the owner. We wanted to visit some Vietnamese restaurants around the area and we stumbled into Pho 777 thinking we would get good food because of the Michelin status this restaurant has received. We left very, VERY disappointed for a few reasons.
First, the food is mid. We had a few soup dishes which was way too salty and a beef dish that was bland and had no flavor. You could definitely find better Vietnamese spots around the area that tastes way better.
However, not only was the food bad, but the service was also bad. The owner spoke very rudely to the nice elderly waitress and waiter, and spoke in a very degrading and demanding tone to them. She would demand them in Vietnamese (so other non-Viets customers would not understand them) in such a DEGRADING tone in the back where no one would hear them. However, we caught the owner go into the kitchen and speak to the waitress in a rude tone to the point where the elderly woman came out with her head down as she continued to do most of the work cleaning up in the restaurant. Regardless if they were the owners parents or not, this is CERTAINLY NOT ACCEPTABLE considering the fact they are the ONLY GOOD EMPLOYEES in that restaurant. The young lady (owner) was also speaking in a rude tone with us as well and was acting like they were in a rush. Kudos to the old lady who actually treated us with respect and was very, very nice!
Next, the music was very loud. Very loud to the point where we could not have a proper conversation with each other. It would be fun with large parties but they also need to be e considerate of other guests in the room!!
We would NEVER support a business like this and I encourage anyone else to NOT eat here because of the rude service and mistreatment...
Read moreI would steer far away from this place. They are selfish and unprofessional to the core.
We came in as a bike crew of 10+, to which 777 gave us two mid-sized round table back to back, each sitting 6 per table, however some of our crew member decided not to eat and went around Argyle for drinks instead, so we had one table with only 4 people.
10 mins later, this older lady, with a very bad attitude, frowned at us the entire time we were there, came and took our orders. She came to my table of 4, took our orders and because I ordered in Vietnamese, she realized she could converse with me better in Viet.
She asked me if it was just the 4 of us at this table, I told her yes since some of our other crew members decided to grab drinks instead. She then proceeded to tell me that she wants me and my other 3 friends to move to a smaller table since this table was supposed to be for 6 people. I told her we have been sitting here for the over 10 mins, how does she expect us to move and move away from our other 6 friends. She was persistent and kept insisting that we move…to the point I had enough…
I got up and decided I was not going eat here and support this business and this rude lady. She then told me to sit down and that it’s ok and such. I said no and that I was leaving and as I was leaving she ran around the table, grabbed my arm and pulled me back , told me to sit down and eat. I told her, no and get your hands off of me.
This place is horrific, no manners bad attitude. What do you think they are doing in the back with your food if they’re acting like this upfront.
I will never be a customer here until...
