Chicago West Loop Dessert Guide: Part 2 🍩✨
Continuing from the previous post! 🍪 Voodoo Doughnut This iconic shop originated in Portland, Oregon 🌲. Years ago, on my first trip to Portland, I saw a huge crowd lining up outside a bright pink store—my curiosity led me to search the name, and “Voodoo Doughnut” sounded even more intriguing! Sadly, I was in a rush and couldn’t try it then. Now that it’s opened right here in Chicago, there was no way I’d miss it! 😍 Compared to Do-Rite Donuts in West Loop, Voodoo’s donuts are softer and come in way more creative flavors—from monthly specials to spicy chili-infused options 🌶️. Like Molly’s cupcakes, some are even filled with delicious centers! 🍯 Heads up: These are definitely on the sweeter side (classic American style), so if you’re not into overly sweet treats, try their less sugary varieties! 🍬➖ 📍 Voodoo Doughnut: 945 W Randolph St, Chicago, IL 60607 🍵 Matcha Cita This spot shines more with its drinks than desserts! They blend Japanese and Mexican flavors—think matcha mixed with horchata—in a uniquely tasty way 🇯🇵🇲🇽. It’s sweeter than traditional Japanese matcha drinks but balances well with matcha’s natural bitterness—never overwhelming! 🍹💚 As for desserts, they offer treats like ube cookies and birthday cake cookies (pictured), but they’re not my top recommendation 🍪😅. 📍 Matcha Cita: 1017 W Lake St, Chicago, IL 60607 🍫 BomboBar Couldn’t find my own photo from my last visit, so here’s one from the shop’s page! 😄 These look like donuts but are actually Italian bombolone—fluffy, filled delights! 🍩❤️ BomboBar serves them seasonally: with gelato in summer 🍦 and hot chocolate in winter ☕️❄️. The jam comes in cute little jars on the side, so you can add as much as you like—perfect for customizing your sweetness level! 🍓🫙 📍 BomboBar: 832 W Randolph St, Chicago, IL 60607 #SummerFoodieCat 🐱 #ChicagoLife #ChicagoEats #DessertSpots #WindyCity
