Voodoo Donuts in Chicago is a five-star haven for doughnut aficionados, and my recent visit there only reinforced this reputation. The shop's quirky and vibrant pink decor sets a playful tone, making each visit not just a treat for the taste buds but a visual feast too. The true stars of Voodoo Donuts are, of course, their doughnuts. Each one I tried was a delightful surprise, showcasing Voodoo Donuts' commitment to quality and creativity. The 'Raspberry Romeo' was a perfect blend of sweet and tart, while the 'Powdered Sugar Cake' provided a comforting, classic taste with its soft, cakey texture. The 'Chocolate Ring' was a dream for chocolate lovers – simple yet indulgently satisfying. The 'Portland Cream' and 'The Homer' were exceptional. The former's velvety cream filling and the latter's iconic pink frosting were both testaments to Voodoo's mastery over traditional flavors. Then there's the 'Bacon Maple Bar' – a daring combination that perfectly balances savory and sweet. The 'Voodoo Doll' doughnut was not just delicious but also whimsically designed, a true symbol of the shop's playful spirit. It's truly their best and a must try for first-timers. The 'PB&C' (peanut butter and chocolate) was a rich, decadent treat, and the 'Purple Lemon Haze' stood out with its unique flavor profile and eye-catching appearance. Both are limited-time-only as of this writing. The 'Banana Cream Pie' was a delightful concoction that reminded me of a classic dessert, while 'Diablos Rex' added a bit of an adventurous twist with its bold flavors. Lastly, the 'Strawberry Go-Tart' was an ingenious creation, brilliantly capturing the essence of a strawberry tart in doughnut form. Each doughnut was crafted with care, demonstrating the skill and creativity of Voodoo’s bakers. The staff were just as impressive, offering friendly service that made the whole experience even more enjoyable. Voodoo Donuts in Chicago is more than just a doughnut shop; it's a culinary adventure. With its inventive flavors, high-quality ingredients, and whimsical charm, it's an absolute must-visit for anyone in the city. A well-deserved five stars for a truly memorable experience.

A Donut Wonderland! Step right up, fellow donut enthusiasts, because The Establishment Voodoo Donuts is a magical realm where sugar and spice collide in the most delightful way possible! If you're a donut lover like me, this place is a haven of heavenly treats that cater to every taste bud's wildest dreams. Walking into The Establishment feels like entering a whimsical donut kingdom. The vibrant colors and eclectic decor create an ambiance that screams fun and excitement. It's not just a bakery; it's an experience. As my eyes danced over the myriad of options, I felt like a kid in a candy store, only the candy was donuts, and the store was pure magic. Now, let's talk about the stars of the show – the donuts! The variety here is mind-boggling; they truly have something for everyone. From classic glazed wonders to quirky, out-of-this-world creations, choosing just one can be a challenge. But challenge accepted! I went for the "Ring of Fire," a donut that promised to set my taste buds ablaze. The Ring of Fire is not your average donut; it's a masterpiece. Picture this: Devil's food cake as the canvas, generously coated in cinnamon sugar for that sweet kick. But wait, here comes the twist – a dash of cayenne pepper to spice things up, and a dried red chili pepper to add a fiery surprise. It's a flavor explosion that takes your palate on a thrilling rollercoaster ride. Taking a bite, I experienced the perfect balance of sweetness and heat. The Devil's food cake was moist and decadent, while the cayenne pepper and chili pepper provided a sizzling crescendo of flavors. It was like a party in my mouth, and everyone was invited! The Establishment Voodoo Donuts isn't just a place to satisfy your sweet tooth; it's a haven for those seeking a culinary adventure. Whether you're a traditionalist or an avant-garde flavor explorer, this donut haven has you covered. So, if you're ready to embark on a sugar-filled journey with a hint of spice, The Establishment Voodoo Donuts is the place to be. Prepare to be enchanted!

Maple Blazer Blunt: Voodoo Doughnut has been on my list of gourmet doughnut shops to visit for years. Although I believe it now qualifies as a chain, the original location was founded by Portlanders Kenneth “Cat Daddy” Pogson and Tres Shannon in 2003. I finally had the opportunity to visit a location as they opened one just south of MKE in Chicago. I wanted to try more doughnuts than I had room in my stomach for, so I prioritized my selection based on what I thought was most exclusive to Voodoo Doughnut and my tastes. The Maple Blazer Blunt is a raised blunt (doughnut) dusted in cinnamon sugar and topped at one end with maple frosting and red sprinkles (embers). Funny enough, it could also easily pass as an ice cream cone doughnut if you are visiting with young kids and they want it. While we're focusing on the design, it is unfortunately not easy to eat. I started consuming it at the head/cap, which proved to be a mistake. With each bite working towards the foot, the maple icing would crack and falloff. I adjusted to eating from the "fiery" foot, but not before losing a large chunk of maple frosting/sprinkles that conveniently fell into my open (was trying to cool it) coffee cup. The texture was average and the small amount of maple icing that I did get in my mouth was delicious, but I wouldn't get this one again. Fun for the novelty, but really, it's just okay 😐. This was a 3 star doughnut but 4 stars overall since the atmosphere was cool and the Banana Cream was a 5 star doughnut. Doughboy_Food_Reviews My top doughnut shops: 1. Donut Bar (San Diego) 2. Pinkbox Doughnuts (Las Vegas) 3. Everglazed (Disney Springs) 4. Cranky Al’s (MKE) 5. Krispy Kreme (various locations in different states)

6/2/24 Donuts and service is outstanding. Their donuts are the best in town, second to none. I couldn't ask for a better-quality product. But as far as being a disability friendly store, I have a mixed opinion. (Please let me explain. This is a two-part, mixed review). It's not that their "Not disability friendly" across the whole board. It's only in ONE aspect.

That is their table seating area. Their tables are extremely high up, as if meant for a person who is six feet tall, or taller. It's impossible for a person of short stature, or a person who walks with a walker, or has a wheelchair, to get up on their seats. (Some people in wheelchairs ARE able to transfer into a seat. It's rare they have that type of independence, but sometimes they can do so).

Voodoo Donuts need at least ONE tables and chair lower to the ground, a NORMAL sized table and chair. BUT, their washrooms, and the layout of the store, IS disability friendly. It's a wide-open area where a walker and wheelchair can get through. A person with a walker (or possibly a wheelchair) can easily use their restroom. It isn't cramped like a lot of restaurants.

Their best donut, in my opinion, is their cannoli. It's tender, moist, flaky and the cream inside is heaven. Their donuts, although a little bit pricey, ($5 each), is worth it. Their donuts are so rich and satisfying, you can get by eating half a donut and are left perfectly full and content. They use the finest, highest quality ingredients. (I only took off one star for atmosphere, again, because of the unnecessarily high tables in their store).

As a person who is disabled who walks with a walker, and has arthritis, I was unable to sit on their seats. It's way too high up. Please provide regular, normal seating, at least one lower-level sized table, for people with special needs. Kids and old people may benefit from this same need to. Thank you and no disrespect. Your products are very good otherwise. The...
