EggOEgg โ Thai Breakfast in Chicago ๐ฅ๐น๐ญ
Recently saw an IG ad for this place calling itself โChicagoโs first Thai breakfast spot.โ Honestly, not true โ a Thai restaurant next to Q Sushi tried it years ago but didnโt survive the pandemic ๐ Still, curiosity got the better of me, so I visited on a Sunday. ๐ฆ Thai Crab Omelet โ Menu says โgenerous crab meatโ โ not really. More like a fried egg patty than an omelet. Served with jasmine rice, cucumber, sriracha, and chili sauce. Flavor was okay, but crab portion was stingy. ๐ฆ Meat Loverโs Omelet โ Packed with ham, bacon, Thai ham, and melty mozzarella. Felt more American, but with a twist: potato cubes mixed with cilantro โ interesting fusion touch. ๐ฆ Thai Congee โ Rice porridge simmered 5โ6 hours until soft, with ginger, fried rice noodles, fried dough sticks, and a soft-boiled egg. You pick chicken or pork โ I chose pork, expecting minced meat but got small, firm meatballs instead. Tasted similar to dim sum congee, but a bit pricey. Still, worth a try for something different.๐๐ ๐ฆ Thai Iced Tea โ Skip it โ tasted like powdered creamer. But the server was super sweet, offering free refills with a smile. Also on the menu: milk bread (sold out when I went) and Hainan chicken โ curious how it compares to other spots.๐๐ Went around weekend lunchtime โ not very busy. Turns out itโs run by Friends Station โ doing both hot pot and breakfast. If youโre downtown shopping on the weekend, maybe give it a try. ๐ EggoEgg 800 N State St, Chicago, IL 60610 #ThaiBreakfast #ChicagoEats #EggOEgg #ThaiFood #BreakfastSpot #FoodReview #ChicagoFoodie
