Hong Ning Filipino Restaurant in Chicago's Western Suburbs
A surprisingly pleasant and adaptable taste experience! π π² Caldereta Beef The beef is stewed until tender in a tomato-based broth with a tangy kick β like a slightly sour version of braised beef. Pretty good, though toward the end I noticed a slight beefy aftertaste. Maybe I was just extra sensitive today. ππ π Lechon Kawali Forgot to take a pic π β it's fried pork belly, extra crispy, similar to Cantonese crispy roast pork but crunchier. The dipping sauce wasnβt my favorite, and I could detect a mild pork flavor (not freshness issue, probably just unseasoned US pork). πβ¨ π’ Inihaw na Liempo Also no photo π₯² β tastes like sweet Cantonese-style roast pork, delicious but quite fatty since it's pork belly. I enjoyed it but couldn't eat too much. The dipping sauce was tangy and refreshing! π₯ Overall, every dish was tasty, just a bit heavy on the fat β could get rich after a while. Kinda regret not ordering Chicken Inasal, which might have been less rich. π π Note: Rice is charged separately. We were the first table, so the server stood nearby waiting for our order β a little intense but okay. Feeling encouraged to explore more Filipino food β flavors really clicked for me! Would come back to try their grilled chicken leg if there's a chance. π #LifeInTheUS #ChicagoEats #FilipinoFood #AsianFlavors #FoodieAdventure #ComfortFood
