Idroscalo Park | Milan's Beach by the Airport
🚇 Transportation: Take the M4 to Linate Airport, then walk for about 15 minutes to get there. (The walk can be a bit dull as it’s along a busy road and quite sunny.) ☀️😅 I was curious about this large artificial water area next to Linate Airport after checking the map and saw comments from Komoot users calling it the "Beach of Milan." 🏖️ After some research, I learned it was originally built as a landing site for seaplanes. However, as the popularity of seaplanes declined, it was transformed into a water sports and recreation area. 🚤🌊 As a “beach,” Milanese locals have already embraced vacation mode here! Even though it’s not the seaside, you can still enjoy a beach vibe. 🌞🏄♀️ On the shore, you’ll find people of all ages lounging in the sun (including their little dogs 🐶). There are wave machines, swimming, diving, kayaking, and fishing—something to satisfy every beach fantasy! 🎣🏊♂️ The 6 km lakeside track is perfect for cyclists and runners looking for a challenge. Taking a lap around, you can see how Milanese define their summer activities. 🏃♀️🚴♂️ In a small area of the water not occupied by humans, turtles can be seen basking on their shells. 🐢 If the shore is too sunny, you can head into the forest area, where you might spot wild rabbits. 🐇 Along the way, you can also admire sculptures from the nearby art academy. 🎨 (The park has free drinking water stations… and restrooms… such a great amenity!) 🚻💧 Aside from its distance, I think this environment is fantastic (but running can be tiring). Don’t forget to wear sunscreen, as it’s a sunny day warning! ☀️🏃♂️ #Idroscalo #Milan
