Milan|Modern Art Gallery GAM 🎨✨
Perhaps influenced by my field of study, when I visit museums or galleries, I find myself more often observing the architecture and interiors, and how the exhibitions are designed, in addition to a few exhibits that really interest me. (Of course, this is also because I don't have much appreciation for painting or sculpture!) 🏛️👀 ▪️ Speaking of this gallery, Galleria d'Arte Moderna, also known as GAM, is located in Villa Belgiojoso, which was originally a private villa that was later gifted to Napoleon, becoming the official residence of the new Italian Republic's president. 🇮🇹🏰 Designed during Napoleon's reign, it’s no surprise that the villa's interior decoration is quite lavish. However, almost all the original soft furnishings have been removed, with only the chandeliers remaining, while most of the rest were sent to France. According to the official website, the relief sculptures on the building's façade were created by the same sculptor team responsible for the Milan Cathedral's façade. 🕊️🔔 ▪️ I also want to mention the lighting design in the exhibition areas. One aspect I particularly like is how generously the lighting allows the exhibits to take center stage. Even in the intricately decorated rooms, visitors' attention is captured by the artworks—you can almost hear the light saying, "Hey! Look here!" This is a clever way to guide attention. 💡👁️ However, I find it curious that some lights in the gallery cause glare, shining directly into people's eyes. 🤔 🖋️ Admission: €5, museum annual pass accepted 🖋️ Opening Hours: 10:00 AM - 3:30 PM, closed on Mondays #MustVisitMuseum #ItalyTravel #MilanExhibitions #ItalianGallery #ArtExhibitionCheckIn #EuropeanArt
