When in Italy (especially the north), don't just stick to pizza and pasta! The traditional dishes here are also worth a try!! This time, I'm sharing a restaurant recommended by a friend, specializing in traditional dishes from Lombardy and Piedmont regions, opening at 8 PM and we made a reservation to be the first guests. ๐Ÿฅฉ Ossobuco alla milanese ๐Ÿ’ถ25 One of the most classic traditional dishes of Milan, this veal shank is braised in red wine with saffron, a specialty of the Milan area, and Italian rice. The veal is extremely tender and flavorful, the saffron aroma is rich, and the rice has a slightly hard texture which I love (traditionally it's a bit undercooked). I've had this dish at La Piola before, but I prefer this one! ๐Ÿ Maialino con pere e Raschera ๐Ÿ’ถ19 A classic Italian dish with suckling pig, pears, and Raschera cheese, a semi-hard cheese from Piedmont. The sweet Western soft pears combined with lean pork chops and savory cheese is a first-time combination for me! I love how it echoes the taste of pineapple , pineapple-roasted beef, and orange-flavored pork ribs. ๐Ÿ— Il Lesso ๐Ÿ’ถ26 The signature dish named after the restaurant, a traditional Piedmontese dish, a meat stew with beef tongue, beef cheek, oxtail, beef shin, chicken, and potatoes, etc., served with traditional sauces (Dijon mustard, pesto, horseradish, and fruit in mustard sugar syrup). The meat is very tender, the seasoning is light, allowing the pure meat flavor to come through! My favorite sauces are the fruit in mustard sugar syrup (sweet with a hint of mustard) and Dijon mustard, which pair exceptionally well with the meat! ๐ŸŒฝ Polenta e Gorgonzola ๐Ÿ’ถ18 Polenta, a traditional Italian staple made from ground cornmeal, is often served with cheese or stew. This version comes with blue cheese, which is really salty ๐Ÿ†˜. It becomes even saltier with the cheese, making it better as a dip for pre-meal bread. #Italy #MilanFoodExploration #Food #MilanFood #MyFoodDiary #MilanTrendySpots #MustEatInMilan #MilanRestaurantRecommendations #ItalianCuisine #LocalFavorites
