Nomonomo Omakase • Chicago 🍣
A new Japanese restaurant in Chicago, owned by the same team as the yakitori spot across the street. The chef previously worked at Takeya—the flavors here are decent but pretty standard. Compared to Yume, it’s less innovative and uses simpler ingredients, but it’s also much more affordable at around $130 per person. Weekday visits come with happy hour drink specials! 🍶 The dining environment is… an experience. You eat right in the main dining area, with the omakase counter backed by an open kitchen where chefs also prepare à la carte orders. Also, the counter is quite high—at my height, I felt like I was picking each piece of sushi down from above my head 😅. Still, the meal brought back happy memories. My first omakase in Chicago five years ago was prepared by this same chef. He’s still as dedicated and passionate as ever, while I’ve gone from student to graduate, from working full-time to already dreaming of retirement 😌💼➡️🌴. #ChicagoOmakase #JapaneseFood #Nomonomo #ChicagoEats #FoodMemories #OmakaseLovers
