Recent Visit to Chicago’s Popular Bakery Del Sur 🥐

Lately, Del Sur’s quality remains consistently great, though the hype has cooled down a bit—maybe because of the cold weather, or maybe I’m just comparing it to Kasama? 😅 Either way, the lines are noticeably shorter now, but the deliciousness is still a solid 10/10! 🙌 🍞 Longanisa Croissant – Finally got to try this savory-sweet star! It’s been selling out super fast since their pop-up days. The flaky, buttery crust practically melts away with each bite, revealing a flavorful, aromatic sausage filling inside. Seriously addictive! 🥓😋 🍌 Turon Danish – As delicious as ever! What I love is that you can taste real banana—not some artificial, weirdly sweet flavor. So authentic and satisfying! 🍯🍌 🍰 Bibingka – Recently became obsessed with this Filipino New Year’s rice cake! Made with glutinous rice and coconut milk, it has a subtle jujube-like sweetness. The amazing part? Even after I left a few bites in my bread box for three days, it still tasted just as fresh and moist—no reheating needed! 🌴💫 🍄 Focaccia – Their focaccia flavors keep changing! This time, I tried mushroom and persimmon—a combo I’d never seen before, but wow, it worked! The persimmon added a tangy-sweet note, while the mushrooms brought a rich, almost meaty depth. Tasted like it could be an amazing pizza topping too! 🍅🍕 Compared to Kasama, Del Sur feels more authentically Filipino and super reliable. They’re currently closed for a break, but I can’t wait for their post-holiday reopening—ready to stock up on all their breads again! 🛒🥖 📍 Del Sur: 4639 N Damen Ave, Chicago, IL 60625 #SummerFoodieCat 🐱 #ChicagoLife #WindyCity #ChicagoEats #ChicagoFoodie #DessertHeaven
