Sichuan Cuisine in Albany – Delicious but Stingy with Portions

This Sichuan Restaurant is Great – Haven’t Had Such Authentic Braised Green Peppers in Ages 😋 But there are some other things… let’s save those for later 🌲🌲 Sizzling Lamb – Absolutely delicious ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Boiled Sliced Beef in Spicy Broth ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Golden Sand Corn (Sweet Corn with Salted Egg Yolk) – Decent ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ - Photo 5: Mom’s Pork Knuckle Soup – I especially love this soup with large white beans 🥹 (I never know where to buy large white beans in the US. Once I saw a “white bean” photo on a certain grocery app labeled “kidney beans,” but when I bought them, they turned out 🌳🌳 🌚 There are a few things about this restaurant that annoyed me: We already ordered soup, so when they asked what we wanted to drink, we said “just water” – normally, that’s understood to mean tap water, right? But the owner brought over a glass bottle of spring water…🌨️🌨️ ❄️❄️I was confused. I noticed they had tea on their table, so I asked for tea and even inquired if there was a tea menu.🌤️🌤️ 🌧️If tea was going to cost money, they should at least mention it! But the owner said there was no menu and didn’t say a word about charging. Then when we got the bill, the tea was $5. The kicker? I saw the owner and staff pouring water from a kettle for themselves at their table. 🌈 ✨✨It made me so mad 😠 Is this “ripping off fellow Chinese people”? When we checked the bill, there was also a “cash adjust fee” of over $3… That’s absurd. I’ve seen Chinese restaurants offer discounts for cash, but never one that charges extra for credit card payments. I just don’t get it 🎁🎁 Anyway, with all these weird extra charges, the average cost per person was around $55. The food was decent, though.💕💕 Address 📍: Qiaohuadàn (Qiao Hua Dan), 299 Central Ave, Albany, NY 12206 #Albany #AlbanyFood #AlbanyNYFood #AlbanyNYDayTrips #NYCFood #NYCRestaurantRant #NYCSichuanRestaurants #NYCSichuanFood
