The Only Northwestern Chinese Restaurant Near Albany – I’ve Been Wanting to Try It!🌼 🌿🌿Tucked away in a small alley next to Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute , it’s easy to miss both its location and storefront. It has a takeout window , but I asked and found out they also offer dine-in. While it specializes in Northwestern Chinese cuisine, it also serves Sichuan dishes and American Chinese food. 🍢🍢 For my first visit, I mostly ordered classic dishes. Overall, the flavors feel a bit Americanized, but it’s still good enough to satisfy a craving in Albany.🍶🍶 ❤️ Braised Pork Belly Burger (Rougamo) 🍵The bun tastes even better than the meat! The baiji bun (a crispy-yet-soft Chinese flatbread) is baked to be crispy on the outside and chewy on the inside, with a rich wheat aroma. The braised pork has a perfect mix of fat and lean meat, and the absence of cilantro makes it quite authentic. They even put it in a bag to prevent oil leakage, but I ate it in seconds – the bag didn’t get a chance to work 😌🍓 ✅ Shaanxi Spicy Oil Noodles 🍊🍊The noodles are machine-cut, not the hand-pulled ones I was hoping for. But they still blew me away – the noodles are chewy, and the chili oil packs a bold kick. For Albany, it’s more than enough to satisfy a craving. ❌ Cumin Lamb🍟 This is a bit Americanized. Also, it’s not sliced lamb – it tastes like pieces stripped off lamb skewers, tossed with some veggies, and stir-fried.
