This French restaurant has a secret menu!
❄️The so-called secret menu is the rotating daily special at Petit Pomeroy. ❄️Highly recommended: ❄️The French braised lamb shank available only on Wednesdays. It uses the Cassoulet cooking method but replaces the duck leg with lamb. The huge lamb shank is braised until it is tender and falls off the bone, rich but not greasy, and finely textured without being tough. The soup is thick and rich, so flavorful it's to die for. The white beans are as big as the knuckles of your thumb, braised until they are soft and sticky, giving a homely feeling. ❄️The off-menu foie gras. It is silky and delicate, with no gamy taste but only the aroma of fat. You can tell it is not a duck liver substitute. The blueberry sauce and hazelnuts that garnish it pair perfectly with the foie gras, balancing its richness. ❄️The lobster cocktail on the menu. While shrimp cocktails are common, lobster ones are really rare. The large pieces of fresh lobster meat are delicate and succulent. The small amount of spicy sauce does not overshadow the main ingredient but highlights it instead. I just came back from the East Coast and can still give the lobster here high marks. Highly recommended. In addition, the regular French dishes like baked snails, chicken liver pâté, and French desserts are all excellent. Petit Pomeroy has truly delivered an outstanding experience. Next time I have the chance, I plan to come on Monday to try the lobster risotto here. #Chicago Must-Eats #Chicago Dining Exploration
