This Is the Most Expensive Condo in Chicago—It’s Owned by Star Wars’ Creator George Lucas

The beloved creator of Star Wars, George Lucas, is saying goodbye to the Pacific Ocean in favor of Lake Michigan. Recently, Lucas has expanded his real estate portfolio by purchasing an $11.2 million 66th-floor penthouse in Gold Coast‘s 800 N Michigan Avenue building, which Citadel founder Ken Griffin previously owned. According to Chicago YIMBY, the plan is to merge the 66th-floor penthouse with an existing condo on the 65th floor that Lucas bought in 2015 for $18.75 million. This will create a 16,000-square-foot duplex penthouse, which is estimated to cost of a whoppping at $33.5 million , making it the most expensive condo in Chicago. This isn’t Lucas’s first condo in the Park Tower; he previously acquired a 48th-floor unit in 2007 for $1.7 million and a 26th-floor condo for $4.9 million in 2012.
