My husband and I came here for our 26 year anniversary. It was my first time in Chicago. A local friend of ours recommended NoMi. It was a great recommendation. We were so happy with everything!
Our server was wonderful! The entire staff was so friendly and on top of their game! We never waited for anything. They were immediately refilling our waters, offering more bread, removing dirty plates, replacing silverware, and offering the next course. It was perfect!
The views!!! I think thereâs not a table in NoMi that doesnât have an amazing view. The main, large window faces the lake (East). Arriving just at 7, you get the full affect of the city, and lake, and then the sunset and lights of the buildings. It was absolutely magical. I couldnât get enough of it. The inside of the restaurant is beautiful and clean, but honestly it could have been a pit and I wouldnât have noticed. Youâll be focused on the views for the entire evening.
The food!!! Everything is very fresh. Itâs all well-prepared. Everything was delicious. Thereâs a good variety of dishes to choose from. Plenty of healthy, low-carb options. We each ordered our own appetizers. I had the crispy Maitake mushrooms and my husband had the mussels. We both loved our food and left nothing on our plates. Excellent choices, that we highly recommend. As our main course we shared the sushi platter. The seafood was fresh and the sushi didnât have too much rice. It was the perfect amount of food with our appetizers. They have an extensive wine and drink menu. For drinks I had a glass of the Sauvignon blanc and my husband had a red blend.
For dessert we werenât really hungry enough to eat anything else but my husband wanted a pallet cleanser. They have a few sorbets. My husband settled on the cherry cola sorbet. They brought it out with a little chocolate that said âHappy Anniversaryâ in French. They did not add it to our bill. Very sweet of them.
It was probably one of the best anniversaries weâve ever had. The bill was about $230 before tip. We highly recommend coming here for any...
Read moreA solid 4 out of 5 for me. I went for 2024 Restaurant Week lunch. The food for me was good, not wow, but good. I got the feeling that they weren't shelling out their most esteemed dishes for a $25 RW lunch, which is fair. I'd return to try some of the other dishes. The space is beautiful and the view by the large windows is very pretty. Casual/business casual dress is fine though it feels upscale on the inside given its location inside the hotel. There were 2 options for courses 1 and 2 so we ordered everything.
We started with the prawn fritters and the nduja salami flatbread. The flatbread took it for me. It was pretty good and I'd order it again. It's big enough for 2 people to be able to try a good portion. The prawn fritters were a miss for me. They were okay, but had a taste almost reminiscent of tobacco smoke? Maybe that's just me, but they weren't my favorite.
Main course was the halibut with lentils and the steak sandwich. Oh that sandwich ATE. It was so good. I would return just for the sandwich. It's pretty filling with the fries and I would highly recommend. I liken the halibut to the prawn fritters. It was just.. good. Nothing special in my opinion. But try for yourself! The halibut + the steak sandwich alone was $70 Ă la carte, so for $25 (dessert included), I wasn't really complaining. Definitely a great restaurant week deal.
The dessert, again, was okay. I'd want to try their other desserts before I ordered this again.
Overall, a good meal! Not my favorite meal I've ever had, but still pretty good. I'd recommend for a cute date or a nicer occasion. I'd love to try the dinner eventually. Our server was Richie, very kind. Pay him more!!!! And give more money to whoever was walking around with the beautiful brooch on her blazer. So cute! All the staff from start to finish were super nice. PAY RAISES...
Read moreI have never left a Google review before in my life, but this is so ridiculous and frustrating that I actually took time to write it.
We made a group reservation for a university event and the original cost was $125 per person. I wouldn't want to repeat it for free!
First, they ran out of some food items in the first 15-20 minutes, and no compensation was offered. All we got was âWe don't have any more sushi, sorryâ. Most people from our group hadnât even had a chance to try sushi and steaks (that was the primary reason we went there in the first place).
Second, they didn't have enough chairs and tables to accommodate everyone even though they knew how many people were supposed to come. Some people had to just stand in the middle of the room with 2 plates in their hands like idiots. They were super slow with replacing plates too.
Third, I was sitting at the bar table without a glass of water for like 40 minutes (after I miraculously managed to get a chair)!
There are cheap seedy pubs in the middle-of-nowhere towns that have a much better service.
Whatever food I managed to get was mediocre at best, and some of it was downright bad to the point where I couldn't eat it (and I am not even a picky eater). Of course, I canât rate their steaks because I was never able to try any.
I talked to many people from our group afterward, and we all left extremely disappointed and frustrated. Itâs not worth $125, and frankly, it wouldnât be worth going there even if it was free.
The only good impression I have is from the receptionist at the entrance.
Overall, it's a wannabe high-end restaurant that is in reality,...
