TO SOC CHON: A Hidden Gem for Korean Soup π
TO SOC CHON is a Korean soup restaurant located just a 20-minute drive from Evanston. Specializing in offal soup and pork and beef bone soups, this family-run eatery offers traditional Korean home cooking. The interior is decorated in a classic Korean style but is very clean. From the careful handling of ingredients (especially the offal) to the complimentary pre-meal side dishes, you can really feel the dedication of a family restaurant. π They also offer individual portions of potato and spine soup, perfect for satisfying your cravings. Must-Try Dishes : π Signature Beef Bone Soup : Three pieces of beef bone that are incredibly flavorful and tender. The most impressive part is the sauerkraut in the soup, which is cooked until soft and tender. It adds a hint of acidity without overpowering the broth. π Individual Portion Potato Spine Soup : The portion is just right. The pork is not gamey at all, and the broth is different from the beef bone soup, without the sauerkraut. π Offal Soup : I don't eat offal, but my friend said it's very clean and well-prepared. The soup is milky white, served with lots of chives and a generous amount of white pepper, giving it a rich flavor. I have to mention their rice πβit's so good! Each grain is plump and sticky. In addition to the individual soup bowls, they also serve potato spine hot pot, which you can customize with extra ingredients like rice cakes (highly recommended!). π² Average Cost : $20 π° (after tax) β a very reasonable price for the quality! π #ChicagoKoreanFood #NorthSuburbsDelights #PotatoSpineSoup #BeefBoneSoup #KoreanHotPot #EvanstonEats
