Vietnamese Spot with Balut β Ocean Grill & Bar π₯π¦ͺ
A Vietnamese PR friend who usually reps Tanta tried Ocean Grill & Bar and raved about it. After seeing some posts, I got curious β so I rounded up friends and headed over one weekend. π₯ Balut (Fertilized Duck Egg) β Ordered thinking it was quail eggsβ¦ nope! Served with tamarind sauce β tangy, unique, but not really my thing. π Snails (Whelk) β Wanted clams in scallion oil, but they were sold out. Snails came in multiple styles (satay, tamarind, salted egg, etc.) β fun to try different preparations. π¦ Crab Meat Glass Noodles β Light on crab, but the noodles were perfectly cooked β not too soft or firm, with subtle seafood flavor. π² Lamb Hot Pot β Served with veggies and tofu skin β my friend called it βVietnamese zhizhu lamb stew.β When we asked for more broth, they tried to bring a whole new pot with meat! Had to stop them for just broth. π Fried Sticky Rice β Shaped like a rice ball, stuffed with pork, shrimp, and mushrooms β hearty and savory. β Vietnamese Coffee β Friend said it tasted like βliquid tiramisu.β I had the Thai kumquat green tea β too sweet for my taste. π₯ Pork Skewers Grilled in the Parking Lot β Saw the chef grilling them on the way out β looked amazing! Saving for next time. Overall decent β but I think seafood might be the real draw. Next visit Iβll try the scallops and clams! π Ocean Grill & Bar 1826 S Canal St, Chicago, IL 60616 #OceanGrillBar #VietnameseFood #Balut #SeafoodLovers #ChicagoEats #PilsenChicago #HotPot
