We came here after seeing a video on Instagram. The restaurant is very spacious with lots of seating and nice decor. Great ambience.
We debated over the menu for a while and ended up getting four things.
The best thing we got was the pho! We got the rare beef and brisket with fresh noodles ($1.50 extra). It was really good -- the noodles were wide and soft, the broth was warm and comforting, and the rare beef rounds made for a perfect bite. It tasted rich without being heavy at all. I wasn't a fan of the brisket as it was a lot of tendon and not much meat. I would get the pho again. It was definitely the best thing we tried
We tried the crispy egg rolls which i thought were pretty basic, nothing special. We also got the crispy sticky rice with seafood. I'm a sucker for sticky rice and seafood so I was excited (expecting more of a Taiwanese sticky rice), but then was surprised to see it looked like a big arancini. The rice itself seemed a bit overcooked, so it was not the sticky rice I had hoped for (kinda gloopy), and the seafood filings were fine but nothing special. I wouldn't get this again.
We also got the garlic butter sea snails upon our waiter's recommendation. I thought these were pretty good. The sea snails had an interesting texture -- a bit more rubbery in the thick part, and in the softer part that was deeper in the shell, it was less rubbery and more soft. I thought this was pretty good but I would still prefer some good shrimp over sea snails, alas. I'm glad I tried it though!
I also tried the green kumquat iced tea which I wasn't a fan of. It was overly sweet and tasted more like sugar water than anything. I wouldn't get this again.
Overall I had a nice experience here. The restaurant is very clean, spacious, and nicely decorated, and the pho was worth getting again. Nothing else I tried was particularly memorable though, so realistically I probably wouldn't...
Read moreCame to visit Chinatown for the Labor Day weekend .the hotel we stayed in was very close to this restaurant. Before heading home, we try this place for lunch The only reason we chose this place is the seafood. On Google review, the post picture was good, but it turned out the seafood was not in season. They were sad 😢 because we were so pumped to try it. We wanted to try this every since we got to Chinatown. My kid never tried snail.or razor clams .they should put this on their menus . We would have gone to Vietnamese town Lots of Vietnamese restaurants on Broadway Service was a good, very friendly worker . Fresh Rolls was great. But in my opinion, the pho noodles bowl soup was too greasing. Too much oil .no slurping at this place. Just used chopsticks to eat noodles and meat.no broth Bowl was big, but noodles meat not so much .portion size to small against other. If your big eater or hungry try somewhere else, this place was packed ppls waiting outside to be seated. So something special in this place but we didn't enjoy our meal Or maybe we like our pho noodles different. Spend over 200 dollars for 5 ppls Noodles and meat portion size too small vs. other Vietnamese restaurants in the Chicago area...
Read moreThe service was impeccable. The staff was very attentive and very nice from the moment we stepped into the restaurant. We got pho (S6- special) and the broth was 😗👌🏻 Some of the best broth I've had. We opted for the "fresh" noodles for an extra 1.50. However, we didn't get a whole lot of extra noodles. They were also very skimpy on the meat/ ingredients. They cut up the tripe into little strips, they gave us one meatball and cut that into fourths for almost 20 a bowl. We ordered a iced coffee hoping it would be the traditional drip Vietnamese coffee but it wasn't. The cup came out prepped and ready to go. It honestly tasted like instant Boss coffee from a can. The chicken wings had good flavor, but again 6 flats, no drums for 13 dollars. We ordered butter garlic snails. We had a few of them and I'm no food critic or trying to pretend to be, but to us it was sandy. We sent it back telling the server that it was sandy, but we would still pay for the dish since we ate from it. The manager came out, spoke to us explaining it wasn't sand, but rather baby escargot inside of them giving them a crunchy sand like texture. Personally it was expensive for what we got, but...
