Western Australia Day 4 | Waves, Puppies, Bones, and Kidneys

Theme: Albany Half-Day Tour - Woke up and walked to Three Anchors near the apartment for breakfast. 🥨🥨 😍😍The sliced passion fruit was fresh and refreshing; the avocado mash and pomelo open-faced sandwich, along with the Turkish Eggs (garlic yogurt with fried chickpeas and poached eggs), were so unique and delicious. There was just a swing at the entrance of the shop, and I had a great time playing on it for ages.👉👈 🍐🎼- Drove along the coastal road—there are several lookouts where you can stop to take photos. - Headed to Point King Lighthouse Ruins. You can drive to within one kilometer, then walk the rest of the way. It’s the ruins of a lighthouse building, and it looks beautiful on a clear day. We even saw someone fishing at sea.🙉 - The Museum of the Great Southern is quite small. Next to it, there’s a small boat (marking the first British landing here) that costs AUD 5 per person to visit. After a quick tour, we went to ALDI to restock on water.🌳🌳 🍚🍚- Visited The Gap and Nature Bridge. The Gap was absolutely breathtaking—you could even feel a slight vibration and strong sea breeze at the edge of the viewing platform. - Whaling Station Museum: It has a real whaling ship that you can go inside to explore. Next to it are the platform where whale meat was processed and cut after capture, and the workshop where whale oil was boiled. 👀 💞💞Combined with the documentary footage, the scene was both shocking and cruel. It’s a museum with both historical significance and educational value. The ticket also includes access to a nearby botanical garden and a small zoo, which has tons of native Australian animals—various kangaroos, albino kangaroos, large parrots, and wombats that produce cube-shaped droppings, among others. The ticket seemed a bit expensive when I bought it, but it was definitely worth the money after exploring everything.✨✨ 🏡- Started heading back to Perth. On the way, we passed Mount Barker Bakery, where we bought savory pies and desserts to take with us. The 5-pepper beef pie was delicious—packed with big chunks of beef that were surprisingly tender. The pistachio “record roll” dessert was good too. 🌤️ I also bought an XX kidney pie because I saw a fellow traveler say some offal pie was really tasty… turns out it was a huge letdown. It had an overwhelming beefy🌅🌅 flavor—don’t follow my lead 🥲. - Stayed in Perth. Had dinner at Nextdoor, which serves something like creative fusion cuisine. The roasted chicken and grilled wagyu beef were good, but the cucumber salad was just so-so—it was way too salty.🏖️ #WesternAustralia #Albany
