Western Australia Road Trip | Day 4: Exploring The Gap Around Albany
Day 4: Exploring Around Albany ✨✨Driving all the way south from Perth, we were greeted by a continuous array of hidden gem beaches 🏖️ and bays. The seas of Western Australia refuse to be monotonous—they boast a kind of beauty that holds conflicting charms.🍎🍎 When we arrived in the southern town of Albany, the weather turned overcast with a steady drizzle. At the viewing platform (open-air viewing platform) of The Gap park, we marveled at the grandeur of towering cliffs and roaring waves. 🌳🌳 💖We thought the bad weather would ruin our beach plans; yet, when we reached Little Beach, we spotted a shark 🦈 patrolling near the shore. Even on a cloudy day, this breathtaking beach left us speechless. We spent a memorable afternoon lazing around and daydreaming 🧜♀️. - 🏄♀️ Little Beach: ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️ - 🌊 The Gap Park: ♥️♥️♥️♥️ - 🐚 Blowholes: ♥️♥️ - ⛰️ Albany Wind Farm: 💔 Our original Albany itinerary was: visit Little Beach on the east in the morning for sea views and snorkeling, head to The Gap park in the afternoon, and catch the wind turbines and sunset 🌄 at Albany Wind Farm in the evening.🌷🌷 🌰But! When we opened the curtains in the morning, we were met with overcast skies, dropping temperatures, and a steady drizzle ⛈️. Our perfect plan was derailed by bad weather 😢. With the beach out of the question, we decided to shift Albany’s theme from “beaches” 🏖️ to “seafood” 🐠🦐. We’d read some travel bloggers (netizens) say Albany is great for fishing 🎣 and clam digging, so we followed an elderly man with a small shovel and cloth bag on Emu Beach.🦋🤲 In the end, we only managed to collect a pile of oyster shells—oops 🤣. Our seafood hunt got off to a rocky start, but as the light rain 🌧️ turned to overcast skies, we made a last-minute decision to go to The Gap. And it turned out: Western Australia’s seas never disappoint. 😍😍 🍐🎼The Gap was utterly spectacular; my travel buddy was so intimidated that they dared only watch from a distance, not approaching the edge. After The Gap, we went to Blue Holes—it’s a long walk, so you can skip it if you’re short on time. Due to the rainy weather, we also missed out on the wind turbines, which were shrouded in clouds and mist.👉👈 The highlight of the day came last, at Little Beach. It was around 2 PM after lunch, and we were bored, so we decided to take a chance and go to Little Beach. 🌻🌻 To our surprise, we encountered a shark patrolling the area. Right next to it, Little Beach’s cove of crystal-clear water was stunningly beautiful—even on a cloudy day.🍉 🍓🍓Beyond the attractions, the restaurants we visited today were noteworthy. For breakfast, we went to the popular bakery The Bred—their various croissants were delicious. For lunch, the Thai restaurant Chanya Thai was absolutely fantastic, satisfying our Asian taste buds’ craving for seafood and curry.
