Winter Visit to Chicago’s One‑Star — Goosefoot ❄️

It’s been over a year since my last visit to Goosefoot, but my memories here have always been warm and wonderful. Owners Chris and Nina pour heart into every detail — from flavors to music to decor — all inspired by their love for the Woodstock festival era.🙌😊 The portions are generous (you won’t leave hungry!), and the taste? As one of Chicago’s top French restaurants with a Michelin star, you can imagine how good it is. If the only downside used to be the price, even that’s changed post‑pandemic: Nina shared that to stay profitable and increase turnover, they now offer a streamlined 5‑course menu ($95/person) — book under “Goosefoot Food and Wine” on OpenTable. For the full tasting experience, choose “Goosefoot” (currently Sundays only — and those slots sell out fast!). But if you’re new here, the 5‑course version is a perfect introduction. 🏥 COVID‑Safety Focus This might be the most pandemic‑conscious fine‑dining spot I’ve visited. They provide individually boxed utensil sets labeled in course order — no need for staff to handle guests’ used cutlery. 🦐 Prawn Course Solid, though pre‑pandemic it was scallops (which I preferred). 🥩 Steak Perfectly tender, juicy, and seasoned just right. 🧀 Baked Brie & Madeleine Cake Infused with fig aroma — cozy and fragrant. 🍮 Crème Brûlée Delicious, but by this point I was seriously full! Had to nibble some mint leaves to refresh. (Seriously, portions are large for fine dining!) Overall, the experience rivals Sepia — outstanding flavor and value for a Michelin‑level meal. Next door, they run a small wine shop with half‑bottles perfect for pairing. Goosefoot: 2656 W Lawrence Ave, Chicago, IL 60625 #ChicagoEats #ChicagoFoodScene #ChicagoLife #MichelinStar #FrenchCuisine #HiddenGem
